India: Ex-IPS officer Krishna Prasad likely to join BJP

Hyderabad, July 29 (PTI) Former IPS officer T Krishna Prasad is in talks with the BJP top brass and is likely to join the saffron party soon, sources said on Friday.

The 1987-batch IPS officer retired in DGP rank in 2020 is currently running an NGO, which aims to bring cheers to the marginal sections of the society.

If everything goes as per plan Prasad is likely to join the party in August.

India: Suspended police inspector accused of rape

Hyderabad, Jul 11 (PTI) A suspended Circle Inspector (CI), who was booked here for allegedly raping a woman, was taken into custody, police said.

A special police team of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate has taken into custody on July 10, Inspector K Nageshwar Rao, who is involved in a case registered against him under relevant sections of IPC and Arms Act, the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate said in a release.

He is being questioned, police said.

India: Centre following "regressive" agri policies: KCR

Hyderabad, Apr 19 (PTI) The Centre is following "regressive" agriculture policies and they are "dampening" farm sector growth in the country, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alleged on Tuesday.

The Centre's improper policies would reduce output instead of giving a push to it, he claimed.

Rao made the comments during a meeting with state Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy and officials on the preparedness for the coming rainy season crops, according to an official release.

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (PTI) Political strategist Prashant Kishor's meeting with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here has assumed political significance ahead of next year's Assembly elections in the state, even as the TRS supremo is making efforts to stitch up an anti-BJP bloc comprising various regional leaders including Mamata Banerjee and Uddhav Thackeray.

World may see another pandemic: Bill Gates

Hyderabad, Feb 24 (PTI) Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates on Thursday said the world may see another pandemic, likely a respiratory virus, even as he emphasised on strengthening diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines and R &D.

The last gigantic pandemic was almost 100 years ago but it won't be that long into the next one strikes, he said, in a virtual fireside chat with Telangana Industries Minister K T Rama Rao as part of 'BioAsisa-2022', the state government's flagship annual life sciences convention.

India: Telangana CM KC Rao to meet Thackeray, Pawar tomorrow

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (PTI)  Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would meet his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai on Sunday as part of his campaign against the BJP's alleged anti-people policies.

Rao, also known as KCR, would meet Thackeray, president of Shiv Sena, at his residence in Mumbai at 1 PM and have lunch with him, TRS sources said here on Saturday.

After the meeting with Thackeray, Rao would go to Pawar's residence and discuss national political issues, the sources said.

India: BJP MLA calls "traitors" who did not vote Yogi in UP Polls, threatens

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (PTI) BJP MLA in Telangana T Raja Singh on Tuesday triggered a controversy with his comments that those "traitors" who did not vote in support of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh will have repercussions post elections.

Observing that those opposed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appeared to have voted in large numbers in some areas in the second phase of polling on Monday resulting in "highest polling", he appealed to the Hindu voters in UP to come out and vote in the third phase.

India: PM Modi insulted Telangana: TRS

Hyderabad, Feb 8 (PTI) Alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "insulted Telangana" with his comments in Parliament over the state's formation, the ruling TRS called for protests across the state on Wednesday.

TRS Working President K T Rama Rao asked his party workers to organise protests with black flags and burn effigies of the BJP, a TRS release said.

Rama Rao tweeted alleging that the PM insulted the "decades of spirited struggle and sacrifices of the people of Telangana" with his comments.

India: Telangana CM skips Modi reception at airport

Hyderabad, Feb 5 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was conspicuously absent during the reception of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport here on Saturday.

The absence of the CM at the airport irked the saffron party, which said Rao failed to follow the protocol and insulted the prime Minister .

Modi is here to dedicate to the nation the 'Statue of Equality' commemorating the 11th century Bhakti saint Sri Ramanujacharya and also to kickstart the 50th anniversary celebrations of ICRISAT.
