Hyderabad, Jan 10 (PTI): "Tiranga Rally," an anti-CAA protest led by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, was taken out here on Friday with thousands of people marching with the national flag.

Shops and establishments near Charminar downed shutters in support of the rally organised by the United Muslim Action Committee, comprising various Muslim groups.

The rally which would cover a distance of about three km from Mir Alam Eidgah to Shastripuram began around 1 p.m.

Hyderabad, Jan 8 (PTI) Amid spiralling US-Iran tensions, security was on Wednesday tightened outside the US Consulate here by Hyderabad Police.

As a precautionary measure, security was enhanced by deploying additional personnel, a senior police official told PTI.

Karimnagar (Telangana), Jan 2 (PTI): A four-year-old girl has allegedly been kidnapped and raped by her close relative in a village in Jayashankar Bhoopalpalli district, police said on Thursday.

The girl, along with her mother and grandmother, was asleep in their house in Konampet village on Tuesday night when the relative Rasa Komuraiah (36) entered the house, took the child away and allegedly raped her, the police said.

The girl's mother woke up early Wednesday, found her daughter missing and started a search, they said.

Hyderabad, Jan 2 (PTI): A 19-year-old priest was on Thursday arrested here for allegedly stealing as many as 31 bicycles, police said.

The accused, who learnt the Vedas, worked as a priest in temples and was addicted to playing PUBG game. He used to quarrel with his mother for lavish needs, a press release from the police said.

Hyderabad, Dec 30 (PTI) The proposed National Population Register would be almost the same as the one in 2010, with some more details being sought to implement welfare measures, Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said here on Monday.

"Almost the same. NPR means Census. Census means NPR. There are no changes. The usefulness in Census, (we are) taking some more details for welfare activity, he told reporters here in reply to a question.

Hyderabad, Dec 27 (PTI) The ruling TRS in Telangana, which voted against the amendment to citizenship law in Parliament, on Friday said the party government would take a decision on the NRC and NPR after due deliberations in the state cabinet.

We are extremely clear on the stand on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). There is no big confusion in it. Whatever we have said on the floor of the House, we stand by that. There is no change in that," TRS working president K T Rama Rao told reporters here.

Hyderabad, Dec 28 (PTI) The National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) are two sides of a coin, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has said.

His claim comes a day after Union Minister G Kishan Reddy had clarified that there was no link between the two.

"Home Minister Amit Shah said there is no difference between NPR and NRC. I am telling you that NPR and NRC are two sides of a coin. The rules of NPR and NRC are the same.

Hyderabad, Dec 25 (PTI) A second-year engineering student of a private college here was allegedly sexually assaulted by an Assistant Professor at the institution, police said on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old woman, in her complaint filed stated that the Assistant Professor called her to the lab on Monday and bolted its door before committing the crime, they said.

A case under relevant IPC sections was registered against the accused, aged around 30, and he has been taken into custody.
