Seoul, Aug 14 (AP/PTI) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un lifted a lockdown in a major city near the border with South Korea where thousands had been quarantined for weeks over coronavirus worries, state media said on Friday.

But Kim during a ruling party meeting on Thursday also insisted the North will keep its borders shut and rejected any outside help as the country carries out an aggressive anti-virus campaign and rebuilds thousands of houses, roads and bridges damaged by heavy rain and floods in recent weeks.

PYONGYANG, Aug 6 (NNN-KCNA) – Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), presided over a meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) yesterday, to establish a new division and improve the party’s functions, official media reported today.

The Fourth Meeting of the Executive Policy Council of the Seventh WPK Central Committee, discussed the issue of setting up a new department within the Central Committee, and ways to improve the party’s personnel affairs system. It did not give further details about the new department.

PYONGYANG, June 24 (NNN-KCNA) – A military meeting of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), decided to suspend the military action plans against South Korea, officials reported today.

The report said that the country’s top leader, Kim Jong Un, presided over the preliminary meeting, for the fifth meeting of the Seventh Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), through a video conference on Tuesday and made the decision.

PYONGYANG, June 22 (NNN-KCNA) – The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), will soon distribute 12 million leaflets to South Korea, “to make them pay dearly for their crime,” it was reported today.

“As of June 22 (today), various equipment and means of distributing leaflets, including over 3,000 balloons of various types, capable of scattering leaflets deep inside South Korea, have been prepared,” and 12 million leaflets of all kinds have been printed out, the report said.

SEOUL, June 16 (NNN-BERNAMA) — A report from South Korea’s news agency Yonhap said that North Korea blew up the inter-Korean joint liaison office in its border town of Kaesong on Tuesday.

This sharply escalates tensions on the Korean Peninsula after near-daily threats to punish Seoul over anti-Pyongyang propaganda leaflets, the report said.

The North exploded the liaison office at 2:49 p.m., the unification ministry saying.

Earlier, military sources said that smoke was seen and an explosion was heard from the border town.

PYONGYANG, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Ri Son Gwon, foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), criticized the U.S. policy toward Pyongyang on Friday, saying his country will build up more reliable force to cope with the long-term military threats from Washington.

Ri made the remarks on the two-year anniversary of the first DPRK-U.S. summit in Singapore on June 12, 2018, during which the DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump signed a joint statement.

PYONGYANG, June 11 (NNN-KCNA) – The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), warned the United States today, not to interfere in the inter-Korean affairs, denouncing the U.S. double-dealing on such issues as “disgusting.”

Kwon Jong Gun, director general of the Department of U.S. Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, said, it was ridiculous for Washington to urge the DPRK to return to diplomacy and cooperation, while keeping close coordination with South Korea.

Seoul, Jun 6 (AP/PTI) North Korea threatened to permanently shut a liaison office with South Korea as it continued to condemn its rival for failing to prevent activists from sending anti-North Korean leaflets across the border.

The statement by North Korea's ruling Workers' Party on Friday came a day after the powerful sister of leader Kim Jong Un said her country would end a military agreement reached with South Korea in 2018 to reduce tensions if Seoul fails to stop the activists.

PYONGYANG, May 30 (NNN-KCNA) – The Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), said, it fully supports China’s decision on national security legislation for Hong Kong, today.

It is a legitimate step that China adopted to Safeguard National Security, which is based on the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China and the Basic Law of the HKSAR, at the third session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC), a spokesperson for the ministry, said.

PYONGYANG, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The ruling party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has held a military meeting on measures and policies to improve the country's armed forces to defend its sovereignty and stability, the state news agency reported on Sunday.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the fourth enlarged meeting of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) set forth "new policies for further increasing the nuclear war deterrence of the country and putting the strategic armed forces on a high alert operation."
