North Korea: DPRK slams EU for human rights sanctions

PYONGYANG, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has condemned the European Union (EU) for including the DPRK in the targets of "human rights sanctions" under the pretext of "countering global human rights violations."

A report by the Korean Central News Agency released on Tuesday night quoted a foreign ministry spokesperson as saying that the EU performed "a farce of announcing the targets of sanctions" by pointing its finger at what it calls "human rights violations" in several countries.

North Korea: DPRK Deputies Discuss Economic Plan, Budget At Supreme People’s Assembly

PYONGYANG, Jan 18 (NNN-KCNA) – The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), held the Supreme People’s Assembly yesterday, to mainly discuss the country’s future economic path, it was reported today.

The report said that the fourth session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA), was held in the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang, and discussed the country’s five-year economic and budget plans.

N. Korea''s parliament rubber stamps new development plans

Seoul, Jan 18 (AP-PTI) North Korea's rubber-stamp parliament has passed decisions made by a major ruling party meeting where leader Kim Jong Un vowed to bolster his nuclear deterrent and established plans to salvage a dismal economy.

The North's Korean Central News Agency said Monday that members of the Supreme Peoples Assembly during Sundays meeting unanimously supported the development plans for the next five years that were revealed during the Workers Party congress that ended last week.

North Korea: DPRK’s Eighth Party Congress Opens With Top Leader’s Address

PYONGYANG, Jan 6 (NNN-KCNA) – The eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), opened here with top DPRK leader, Kim Jong Un, delivering an opening address, reported official media today.

North Korea: DPRK premier visits Mt. Kumgang tourist area to discuss new development plan

PYONGYANG, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Kim Tok Hun, premier of the Democratic People's Republic of Korean (DPRK), visited Mount Kumgang tourist area to learn about its development, the official Korean Central News Agency reported on Sunday.

The report said, Kim, also a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, toured round Kosong Port coastal tourist area, Haegumgang coastal park area, sports and cultural area, and discussed technical matters concerning the development of Mount Kumgang tourist area, and carrying them out.

Top DPRK leader wishes U.S. president recovery from COVID-19

PYONGYANG, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, expressed his sympathy to U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday.

According to the official Korean Central News Agency, Kim said in a message that he heard the "sudden" news that the president and the first lady of the United States had been tested positive for COVID-19, and "offered his sympathy" to them.

"He sincerely hoped that they would recover as soon as possible," the report said, adding that Kim "hoped they will surely overcome it."

Typhoon barrels into North Korea after causing damage in South

Seoul, Aug 27 (AP) A typhoon that grazed South Korea, ripping off roofs and knocking out power to more than 1,600 households, made landfall in North Korea early Thursday.

South Korean authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties, and North Korea has not reported any damages.

Swedish diplomats leave North Korea, but embassy remains open

Stockholm, Aug 18 (AP) Swedish staff have left the country's embassy in North Korea but the diplomatic mission in Pyongyang remains open and is being staffed by local employees, officials said on Tuesday.

The main reason is that we have temporarily relocated our diplomats who are either on holiday or are part of a (scheduled) rotation, Foreign Ministry spokesman Anton Dahlquist said. Let me stress that we maintain our diplomatic relations with North Korea.
