Kuwait Receives 42,000 Books Returned From Iraq

KUWAIT, Aug 29 (NNN-KUNA) – Iraq handed over, on Wednesday, 42,000 books to Kuwait, which were seized by the Iraqi side, during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

At a handover ceremony, held in Kuwait City, Iraqi Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Hazem Al-Yousefi, said, the books were seized by the Iraqis, during its invasion of Kuwait in 1990, and were recently found in Iraq.

Kuwait Prepares Operating Room For Flood Victims In Sudan

KUWAIT, Aug 27 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), has equipped a hospital in Sudan, with a miniature operating room, to treat people affected by floods across the country, KRCS chairman, Hilal al-Sayer, said on Monday.

KRCS is collaborating with Kuwait’s foreign and defence ministries, as well as, the Sudanese Red Crescent, to make sure that urgent aid reaches the Sudanese people, he noted.

KRCS will continue to assess the situation in Sudan, to determine the scope of aid needed, he added.

Kuwait Voices Support For Preserving Yemen’s Unity, Sovereignty

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, Aug 22 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait expressed its support for preserving the unity and sovereignty of Yemen, over the latest developments in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden.

Kuwait is looking forward to efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia, to host talks in Jeddah, between the Yemeni government and representatives of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mansour Al-Otaibi, said.

Kuwait to increase crude oil production to 100,000 bpd

KUWAIT CITY, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait will increase its crude oil production to 100,000 barrels per day (bpd), the national oil corporation said Monday.

"A deal with Halliburton will hopefully lead to the production of 100,000 bpd in Kuwait," Emad Al-Sultan, CEO of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), said during a press conference held for signing contract with the U.S. oil field service company.

Kuwait to boycott Bahrain conference

8 killed in road accident in central Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 27 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and one injured in an early Monday road accident in central Kuwait, the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said in a statement Monday.

The tragedy happened after three cars collided in Kabd area about 35 km from Kuwait City, capital of Kuwait, when a crowd of people gathered to help, KFSD said.

Afterwards, a speeding four wheel-drive vehicle plowed into the crowd of people, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries, it added.

Kuwait emir calls on army to prepare for regional developments

19 May 2019; MEMO: Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on Monday evening called on the country’s armed forces to take the highest level of caution amid the “dangerous developments” taking place in the region.

During a visit to the General Presidency of the Kuwaiti National Guard Forces, Al Sabah said: “You are well aware of the serious developments around us in the region that require you to take the highest level of caution while carrying out your duties.”

Saudi Arabia's key oil pipeline hit by drones

KUWAIT CITY, May 14. /TASS/: The central oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia has been hit by drones, Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid al-Falih said on Tuesday.

"The East-West Crude Oil Pipeline has been attacked by explosive-laden drones," the Beirut-based Al Mayadeen TV channel quotes him as saying. "The national Saudi Aramco company halted oil pumping in the pipeline."

At the same time, al-Falih did not specify who could have been behind the attack.
