India: RSS' highest decision-making body to meet on March 19-20

Bengaluru, Mar 14 (PTI): Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the highest decision-making body of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will meet here on March 19 and 20.

The proceedings of the ABPS would begin on March 19 and conclude on March 20 at Janaseva Vidya Kendra, the RSS said in a press release.

The ABPS meets once a year in different cities of the country, and this is the 8th such meet happening in Karnataka.

India: Karnataka temporarily stops bus service to Maharashtra

Bengaluru, Mar 13 (PTI): The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation on Saturday temporarily suspended its operations to Kolhapur in Maharashtra which has a substantial Kannada population in view of the ongoing border row between the two states, officials said.

A few Maharashtra leaders have been demanding the merger of the regions dominated by Marathi-speaking people in Karnataka, especially Belagavi, which the pro-Kannada organisations have been opposing.

Bengaluru, Mar 5 (PTI) A social activist whose complaint of sexual harassment against a Karnataka minister led to his resignation on Friday appeared before the police here, a day after seeking a week's time citing security concerns.

Dinesh Kallahalli appeared before the police and later said he handed over whatever 'evidence' he possessed.

India: Six Karnataka turncoat ministers move court to restrain media

Bengaluru, Mar 6 (PTI) Six Karnataka ministers have moved a Bangaluru court here seeking to restrain media organisations from publishing or airing any defamatory or unauthenticated material against them.

The six ministers of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa-led government who moved the court Friday include Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar, Agriculture Minister B C Patil, Cooperative Minister S T Somashekar and Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar.

India: Countdown begins for PSLV-C51/Amazonia-1 mission

Bengaluru, Feb 27 (PTI) Countdown for the launch of PSLV-C51/Amazonia-1 mission commenced on Saturday from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

PSLV-C51 rocket, which is the 53rd mission of PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle), will launch Amazonia-1 of Brazil as primary satellite and 18 co-passenger satellites from Sriharikota, about 100 kms from Chennai, Bengaluru- headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation said in a statement.

The launch is tentatively scheduled at 1024hours on February 28, subject to weather conditions.

India: 21-year-old activist arrested for sharing Greta Thunberg's 'toolkit'

New Delhi, Feb 14 (PTI) A 21-year-old climate activist has been arrested from Bengaluru for being allegedly involved in sharing the "toolkit" related to the farmer's protest on social media, police said on Sunday.

Disha Ravi was arrested by a Cyber Cell team of the Delhi Police from Bengaluru on Saturday, a senior police officer said.

India: Disgruntled BJP MLAs to meet in Bengaluru on Tuesday

Bengaluru, Jan 18 (PTI) A few ruling BJP legislators, who missed ministerial berths in recent expansion of the B S Yediyurappa cabinet in Karnataka, would meet here on Tuesday to chalk out their strategy, including meeting senior party leaders, including in New Delhi, party legislator M P Renukacharya said.

Spearheading the campaign to convey the discomfort among the MLAs to the party high command, the Honnali MLA on Monday said the meeting will be within the democratic framework of right to expression in the party.

India: Azim Premji & Dr Devi Shetty chosen for PCB awards

Bengaluru, Jan 18 (PTI) The chairman of Wipro Limited Azim Premji and the founder chairman of Narayana Health Dr Devi Prasad Shetty are among those who have been selected for the annual awards given by the Press Club of Bangalore.

Premji has been chosen for 'Press Club Person of the Year', while Dr Shetty and actor-Director Sudeep Sanjeev have been selected for the 'Press Club Special Award.'

Besides them 25 senior journalists have been selected for the 'Press Club Annual Awards', a release said.

India: Kumaraswamy warns of BJP's phoney drama of alliance in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Jan 3 (PTI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday warned the BJP to beware of JD(S), as he accused the ruling party of systematically spreading imaginary news about his party joining the NDA.

In a series of tweets the JD(S) legislature party chief also accused the BJP of attempting to erode its party's base by planting such rumours, and said the party "does not need BJP's friendship."

"BJP has realised after the gram panchayat results that all its attempts to finish off the JD(S) have failed.
