India: US Prez's visit: Forth cargo plane lands at Ahd airport

Ahmedabad, Feb 22 (PTI) Another cargo plane of the US Air Force landed at the Ahmedabad international airport on Saturday ahead of the February 24 visit of US President Donald Trump to the city.

The C-17 Globemaster cargo plane, fourth in the last few days, carried security equipment and a special vehicle that is likely to be part of Trump's convoy, sources said.

Nagpur, Feb 22 (PTI) Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad on Saturday asked RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to contest direct elections to test the actual public support for the "Manuvadi" agenda of the Sangh.

Addressing a meeting of Bhim Army workers at the Reshimbaug Ground here, located close to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) headquarters, Azad demanded ban on the Sangh to end "Manuvad".

New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) All roads leading to a Delhi government school where US first lady Melania Trump is scheduled to pay a visit next week have been repaired, an official said here on Saturday.

According to a senior MCD official, roads and footpaths have been repaired and saplings planted to welcome the first lady.

India: Amit Shah a 'hate minister' not home minister: Karat

Agartala, Feb 22 (PTI) Alleging that Home Minister Amit Shah was working like the "hate minister" of the country, CPI(M) politburo member Brinda Karat on Saturday said the BJP-led central government was "fulfilling its agenda of communal polarisation".

Karat, addressing the inaugural session of the 22nd central conference of CPI(M)'s tribal wing, slammed Shah for his comments on the Shaheen Bagh protesters during campaigning for the Delhi assembly polls.

India: Road at Shaheen Bagh opened by group of protesters

New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) A small stretch of the road closed for over two months in Shaheen Bagh due to an anti-citizenship law protest was "opened" by a group of demonstrators on Saturday, though police barricades continued on one side.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) R P Meena said, "Road number 9 in Shaheen Bagh was reopened by a group of protesters, but later it was closed by another group."

However, locals later said the road was again reopened by protesters in the evening.

India: Woman SI alleges rape by police inspector in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Feb 23 (PTI) A woman sub-inspector has lodged a complaint in Miranpur town here that she was raped by a police inspector on the pretext of marriage.

She has been taken for a medical examination and a case was registered against Inspector Sandeep Chouhan on Saturday, SHO H N Singh said, adding that an inquiry is underway.

India: Traffic affected in Khureji Khas due to anti-CAA protest

New Delhi, Feb 23 (PTI) Traffic movement was affected in northeast Delhi's Khureji Khas area on Monday after a large group, comprising mostly women, gathered there to protest against the CAA, police said.

They said the protesters, approximately less than 100 in number, assembled on a stretch leading to the main road of Khureji Khas for a sit-in demanding roll back of the amended anti-citizenship law.

India: AAP eyeing UP polls after thumping victory in Delhi

Lucknow, Feb 23 (PTI) After registering a thumping victory in the Delhi elections, the Aam Aadmi Party is eying the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls scheduled in 2022 and said that it will seek votes in the name of Delhi's development model.

AAP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh claimed that the BJP's "Gujarat model" was nothing compared to his party's Delhi development model.

He said workers will reach out to the people in UP and tell them about party's development agenda and schemes.
