India: 44 Vande Bharat trains in next 3 years: Railways

New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Amid speculation that the 44 Vande Bharat trains scheduled to hit the tracks by 2022 will be delayed, the Railways on Tuesday said the train sets will now be manufactured by not one but three railway units and will be on the rail network within the next three years.

Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav on Tuesday said the trains will be simultaneously manufactured in three rail units -- the Railway Coach Factory, Kapurthala, Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareilly and the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai.

India: Woman raped in Hyderabad, three arrested

Hyderabad, Jul 28 (PTI): A woman, working as a sweeper at a place of worship here was allegedly raped by three persons, who were taken into custody, police said on Tuesday.

The woman, in her mid-30s, filed a complaint yesterday stating that on Sunday night she was forcibly taken to the nearby bushes by the three men where they raped her, a police official attached to Afzalgunj station said.

India: Three Naxal terrorists held in Chhattisgarh s Sukma district

Sukma, Jul 28 (PTI) Three lower-rung Naxals were arrested from Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said on Tuesday.

The rebels, identified as Madkam Joga (23), Madvi Mukka (28) and Madvi Deva (32), were arrested from a forest near Kolaiguda village under Bheji police station limits on Monday, a police official here said.

A joint of team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF) was involved in apprehending them, he added.

India: Anti-CAA protest organiser served externment notice in Guj

Ahmedabad, Jul 28 (PTI) A 38-year-old man who organised a Shaheen Baug-type anti-CAA protest in Ahmedabad has been issued a show cause notice asking why he should not be externed for a period of two years.

Kaleem Siddiqui has been asked to appear before the A Division assistant commissioner of police on July 30 to put forth his defence.

In the notice, police cited 10 incidents in which Siddiqui allegedly indulged in violence or criminal intimidation against innocent people.

India: ECoR completes installation of bio-toilets in all trains

Bhubaneswar, Jul 29 (PTI) In an effort to provide clean and eco-friendly travel, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has successfully completed 100 per cent installation of bio- toilets in trains.

Bio-toilets convert human waste into water and bio- gases with the help of bacteria and the mechanism of bio- toilets is very helpful in sustainable management of solid waste, the ECoR said in a statement on Wednesday.

The inventory of coaches of ECoR is 3,247 and all the coaches are now fitted with eco-friendly bio-toilets.

Patil's statement is said to be contradictory to the "go solo" stand announced by the party president J P Nadda for Maharashtra.

India: Dummy run to cap well spewing gas uncontrollably for two months

Dibrugarh, Jul 29 (PTI) Oil India Limited (OIL) is planning dummy run of the final capping operation and subsequent killing operation at its Baghjan oilfield in Assam where a well is spewing gas for over two months.

Considering the critical nature of the operations, a dummy run is being planned to be carried out with heavy machinery before the final capping, a release issued by the energy major said.

New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) The arrival of five Rafale jets will make the Indian Air Force much stronger to deter any threat facing India and those wanting to threaten the country's territorial integrity should be worried about its new capability, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday.

The remarks are largely seen as a veiled message to China with whom India is locked in a bitter border row in eastern Ladakh. China has significantly enhanced deployment of its fighter jets and other aerial assets around its key bases in the region.
