Russia ready to help solve global challenges, open to cooperation — diplomat

BAKU, October 26. /TASS/: Russia acknowledges its responsibility to solve the many challenges on the global landscape and is ready to do its part to facilitate said problems, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said at the 15th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in Baku on Thursday.

The minister said international relations have become fragmented recently but the globalization of processes "continues to be a reality in terms of shared challenges and tasks."

Russia's Sechin says Taiwan will return to China 'on schedule'

BAKU, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Igor Sechin, chief executive of Russian oil giant Rosneft (ROSN.MM) and one of Vladimir Putin's closest allies, on Thursday heaped praise on China's leaders and said Taiwan would return to its "native harbour" on time.

Sechin said that decisions taken by the 20th Communist Party Congress, which cemented Xi Jinping position as the most powerful Chinese leader since Mao Zedong, would provide for a new level of development for the country.

Europe’s coalition against Russia and Kiev’s EU candidate status: Lavrov in Baku

Azerbaijan returns ten soldiers to Armenia - state commission

BAKU, December 19. / TASS /: Azerbaijan has handed over to Armenia ten servicemen, who were detained during the clashes on November 16 on the countries’ border, Baku’s State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons said on Sunday, noting that the process was mediated by the EU.

"In order to manifest its commitment to the principles of humanism, Azerbaijan through the EU handed over ten Armenian servicemen to [their homeland] on December 19," the state commission said.

Turkey, Azerbaijan to establish joint university

02 Dec 2021; MEMO: Turkey and Azerbaijan have started working on establishing a joint university in Azerbaijan, a Turkish official said on Thursday, and reported by Anadolu News Agency.

"We are planning to establish a university in Azerbaijan. This university will be realised by establishing affiliations with the most reputed universities," Erol Ozvar, head of the Council of Higher Education, said at an economic forum hosted by Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).

Azerbaijan rejects Yerevan’s claims Azeri troops trespassed into Armenian territory

BAKU, November 15. /TASS/: Azeri troops are fulfilling their official duties on the sovereign territory of their country, Spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Leila Abdullayeva said on Monday.

The press secretary of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry thus dismissed claims by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Azeri troops trespassed into Armenian territory on the eastern border.

Azerbaijan clears over 48,000 mines laid by Armenian army

22 Oct 2021; MEMO: Azerbaijan has destroyed more than 48,000 mines and unexploded ordnances laid by the Armenian army in the regions liberated from occupation, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) and the engineering unit of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, with support from Emergency Situations Ministry, Border Services Command and Special Mine Clearance teams of Turkish Armed Forces, continue to clear the mines in the Karabakh region and surrounding provinces.

Azerbaijan shuts mosque and office of Khamenei's representative

06 Oct 2021; MEMO: Azerbaijan has closed a mosque associated with Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the office of his representative in the country, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported yesterday. The mosque and office were closed and sealed by order of the authorities in Azerbaijan.

According to AFP, Seyyed Ali Akbar Ojaghnejad's office is located inside the mosque in question. He has held the position of Khamenei's representative since 1996.
