New Delhi, May 9 (PTI) Why men rape? A new book seeks to find out answers by examining a slew of factors that shape male behaviour.

In her book "Why Men Rape: An Indian Undercover Investigation", Tara Kaushal sets out to understand the reasons why women feel unsafe through a detailed investigation which includes interviews and meetings with nine men who have an inclination to commit acts of sexual violence.

Chinese Envoy Calls For Multi-lateralism On Anniversary Of End Of WWII In Europe

UNITED NATIONS, May 9 (NNN-XINHUA) – A Chinese envoy called for multi-lateralism on the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

“Multi-lateralism is a collective choice made by humanity, at the cost of a world war. Thanks to multi-lateralism, mankind has enjoyed 75 years of peace and development. No country can make itself great in isolation,” said Zhang Jun, China’s permanent representative to the UN.

Palestine To Take Measures Against Israel, U.S. Over Annexation Plan: Abbas

RAMALLAH, May 9 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, warned, on Friday, that measures will be taken against Israel and the United States, if Israeli plan of annexing West Bank is implemented.

Abbas’ warning was made in a meeting he chaired at his office, in the city of Ramallah, for the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) Executive Committee.

“As soon as Israel announces that it adopts the annexation plan, we will take the proper measures, which will not be against Israel alone, but also against America,” said Abbas.

Venezuela charges Americans with terrorism, conspiracy

9 May 2020; AFP: Venezuela has charged two former US soldiers with terrorism and conspiracy for allegedly taking part in a failed bid to topple President Nicolas Maduro, the attorney general said on Friday.

Luke Alexander Denman, 34, and Airan Berry, 41, were among 17 people captured by the Venezuelan military, which said it had thwarted an attempted invasion by mercenaries in the early hours of Sunday.

United Nations, May 8 (AP) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Friday the coronavirus pandemic keeps unleashing a tsunami of hate and xenophobia, scapegoating and scare-mongering.

The UN chief said anti-foreigner sentiment has surged online and in the streets, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories have spread, and COVID-19-related anti-Muslim attacks have occurred.

India: Hundreds of migrant workers protest at railway station

Mangaluru, May 8 (PTI) Hundreds of migrant workers belonging to northern states on Friday staged a protest in front of the central railway station here demanding that arrangements be made for them to return to home towns.

The crowding of workers at the railway station is learnt to be prompted by a social media post which went viral giving false information that free special trains have been arranged for workers, sources said.

India: Drunk man kills two-year-old daughter

Badaun (UP), May 8 (PTI) A drunk man killed his two-year-old daughter by smashing her into the ground after an argument with his wife in Bisauli area here, police said on Friday.

On Thursday, Sukhpal reached his home in an inebriated state and had an altercation with his wife. In a fit of rage, he threw his daughter on the ground, they said.

India: Man arrested in UP for killing minor daughters

Sambhal (UP), May 8 (PTI) A man was arrested in a village here on Friday for allegedly killing his two minor daughters and burying their bodies, police said.

The accused buried Pooja (6) and Jaya Prakanti (5) in Vamanpuri village of the Bahjoi area on May 6, claiming they had died of some disease, Circle officer (CO) Chandausi Ashok Kumar said.

India: Woman killed for dowry in UP's Bhadohi

Bhadohi (UP), May 8 (PTI) A 22-year-old woman was allegedly killed for dowry in a village of Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district on Friday, an official said.

Police have booked 11 people, including the woman's husband, said SHO Aurai Ramji Yadav.

After the incident took place in Mahdepur village, the woman's in-laws took her to a hospital but she died during treatment, the station house officer said.

A family member of the deceased woman alleged that her in-laws killed her for failing to fulfil their demand for a car in dowry.
