Islamic Movement calls for ongoing resistance at Al Aqsa Mosque

06 May 2021; MEMO: The Islamic Movement in Jerusalem called on Wednesday for resistance in and around Al Aqsa Mosque, and for people not to be deceived by the claim that the Israeli occupation authorities have stopped settlers from entering the Muslims' holy site.

In a media statement, the movement hailed the worshippers inside Al Aqsa Mosque and called on them to continue their struggle against the Israeli occupation forces and the Jewish settlers who desecrate the Noble Sanctuary.

Kushner launches institute for normalisation between Arab states and Israel

06 May 2021; MEMO: Jared Kushner is to launch the Abraham Accords Institute for Peace to work on deepening the normalisation agreements between Israel and Arab countries during his father-in-law Donald Trump's time in the White House, Axios news website reported on Wednesday.

PA complaints to ICC over Israel's eviction of Sheikh Jarrah residents

06 May 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority (PA) has complained to the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the "forced eviction of Arab families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of East Jerusalem", a PA official announced yesterday.

Spokesperson Ibrahim Melhem wrote on Facebook that Israel is violating international law by evicting the Palestinian families in this area to make way for illegal settlers.

Israel settlers set fire to Palestine farmland in Nablus

05 May 2021; MEMO: Extreme right-wing Jewish settlers set fire to Palestinian farmlands and attacked houses in the occupied West Bank village of Burin, near Nablus, yesterday evening, Wafa has reported.

According to Ghassan Douglas, the Palestinian official in charge of the settlements' portfolio in the northern West Bank, settlers set fire to a large tract of farmland in the eastern section of the town and attacked at least three houses.

Germany does not endorse HRW report on 'apartheid Israel'

05 May 2021; MEMO: Germany has expressed its rejection of a recent report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) describing Israeli practices toward Palestinians as amounting to "the crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution."

German government spokesman Steffen Seibert that the international human rights watchdog's assumption that "Israel is committing the international law crime of apartheid is explicitly not endorsed by the federal government," Anadolu Agency reported.

India: Covid deaths due to lack of oxygen is “not less than a genocide”: Allahabad HC

Allahabad; 05 May 2021 (UMMN): While hearing a PIL, judges of the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday made the observations that Covid-19 patients dying due to oxygen shortage is “is a criminal act and not less than a genocide”.

The court observed that “death of Covid patients just for non-supplying of oxygen to the hospitals is a criminal act and not less than a genocide” by those responsible for ensuring the continuous procurement and supply of medical oxygen.
