Twitter and Facebook accused of censoring Palestinian content

10 May 2021; MEMO: The media office of the Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip has criticised social media platforms for "censoring Palestinian content" during the current escalation in Jerusalem. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram were mentioned specifically.

These platforms, it is alleged, are responsible for deleting Palestinian content and banning dozens of pro-Palestine accounts due to their coverage of events in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the unrest in Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.

Israel bows to pressure and delays forced evictions in Sheikh Jarrah

10 May 2021; MEMO: Israel appears to have bowed to international pressure and delayed the forced eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem. The court hearing for the evictions was due to take place today but has been postponed following this weekend's assault by Israeli police against unarmed Palestinians and the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the last few days of the holy month of Ramadan.

India: HC grants 3-week bail to Pinjra Tod activist Natasha Narwal for last rites of father

New Delhi, May 10 (PTI) The Delhi High Court Monday granted bail to JNU student Natasha Narwal, arrested last year in May in connection with the communal riots in north-east Delhi to perform the last rites of her father who succumbed to COVID-19.

A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and A J Bhambhani granted interim bail to Narwal, a Pinjra Tod activist, for three weeks subject to her furnishing of a personal bond of Rs 50,000.

UN Chief Expresses Deep Concern Over Violence In Occupied East Jerusalem

UNITED NATIONS, May 10 (NNN-PNN) – United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, yesterday expressed deep concern over the continuing violence in occupied East Jerusalem.

He was also worried about the possible evictions of Palestinian families from their homes, in the Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighbourhoods, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN chief, in a statement.

According to the statement, the UN chief urged Israel to cease demolitions and evictions, in line with its obligations under international humanitarian and international human rights law.

Algeria celebrates National Day of Memory for French crimes against humanity

08 May 2021; MEMO: Supreme Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced on Friday: "The decline of the enemy Zionist regime has begun and will not stop."

Marking Al-Quds Day, an annual event that takes place on the last Friday of Ramadan, Khamenei asserted: "Israel is not a country, but a terrorist base against the nation of Palestine and other Muslim nations."

Israeli police fired at worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, 64 Palestinians injured

09 May 2021; MEMO: At least 64 people on Sunday were injured after Israeli police intervention with plastic bullets and sound bombs after dawn prayer time, Anadolu Agency reports.

After performing the dawn prayer, hundreds of people gathered between Masjid Al-Qiblatain and the Dome of the Rock Mosque inside the flashpoint compound and unfurled Palestine and Hamas flags.

Blinken admits some U.S. actions undermine int'l order

WASHINGTON, May 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Friday that some U.S. actions in recent years have undermined the rules-based world order.

"I know that some of our actions in recent years have undermined the rules-based order and led others to question whether we are still committed to it," Blinken made the remarks at the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Multilateralism.
