Firing Palestinian citizens of Israel from their jobs 'illegal': Rights group

Adalah – The Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel said on Tuesday that firing Palestinian citizens of Israel from their jobs over their participation in the Dignity Strike organised in solidarity with Gaza, Sheikh Jarrah and Al-Aqsa Mosque is illegal.

Several Arab workers reported being fired from their jobs after they took part in the civic action which was announced by the Follow up Committee for the Arab Citizens in Israel.

Israel: Senior army officers want to end offensive, but Netanyahu doesn't

20 May 2021; MEMO: The military analyst for Haaretz newspaper, Amos Harel, said on Wednesday that senior army officers want to end the military offensive against Gaza, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doesn't because he is looking for a "clear victory".

According to Harel, the majority of the political and military leaders in Israel think that the operation in Gaza is coming to an end soon, but neither the politicians nor the army want to carry full responsibility.

Kuwait launches urgent public aid campaign for Palestine

20 May 2021; MEMO: Kuwait yesterday launched a public aid campaign to support the Palestinian people, amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against them.

The announcement came in a joint press conference by Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs, Hana Al-Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Cooperation, Nasser Al-Subaih, and Palestinian Ambassador Rami Tahboub.

65 Palestinian children killed in Israel bombing of Gaza

20 May 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces have killed 230 Palestinians in Gaza since start of ongoing offensive on 10 May, including 65 children, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said today.

Among the dead, the Ministry of Health said, were 39 women and 17 elderly people, who were mostly killed in air strikes that hit their homes without warning while they were inside.

Israel tourists flock to Socotra part of illegal UAE-run holidays

20 May 2021; MEMO: The UAE is continuing to operate direct flights and tours to the Yemeni island of Socotra despite not having the permission of the government.

According to local sources, hundreds of foreign tourists have arrived on the archipelago over the past few days using visas granted to them by Abu Dhabi, from where weekly direct flights started in March.

Spain deports 4,800 migrants back to Morocco

20 May 2021; MEMO: Spain has sent around 4,800 of the 8,000 migrants who crossed into its African enclave of Ceuta back to Morocco, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said yesterday.

Relative calm has returned to the beaches of Ceuta where a record influx of migrants had arrived on its shores from Morocco starting Monday, after Moroccan security forces appeared to relax border controls.

Party leader Rahul Gandhi said the government has increased the prices of fertilisers, petrol and diesel, and lowered agri subsidies and income of farmers.
