Palestinian Authority to sue Israel over 'crimes' of hacking Palestinians' phones

11 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority (PA) said yesterday it is planning to prosecute the Israeli occupation over its "crime" of hacking phones of Palestinian employees.

In a statement, the PA's Foreign Ministry said that some of its employees' phones were hacked by Israeli spyware Pegasus.

US Congresswoman Tlaib calls on US to stop enabling Israel to kill Palestinian children

09 Nov 2021; MEMO: US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has called on America to stop enabling the killing of Palestinian children by Israel. Her call follows the killing of a 13-year-old Palestinian boy by the Israeli army on Friday.

Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress. She condemned the killing of Mohammed Da'adas, a resident of the Askar refugee camp in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.

Palestine: NGOs also designated 'terror groups' in occupied West Bank

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Chief of the Israeli army's Central Command signed an order on Sunday declaring six Palestinian NGOs to be "terrorist groups", Haaretz has reported. The same six organisations were designated as "terrorists" by Defence Minister Benny Gantz on 22 October.

Egypt places female political prisoner in cell with criminals, ENHR reports

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Egyptian Network for Human Rights has documented details of the arrest and violations against female political prisoner Tawqa Abdel Basser Abdullah.

Tawqa, 24, was arrested inside Helwan metro station on 9 June 2019 and then forcibly disappeared for 17 days.

A student at Cairo University, Tawqa was seen at the Supreme State Security Prosecution on 26 June 2019 and charged with being part of the "Coalition of Hope".

Amnesty slams settler playground attack on Palestinian children

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: Amnesty International has condemned an attack by Israeli settlers and soldiers against Palestinian children in a playground in the occupied West Bank village of Sussia near Hebron. The incident took place on Saturday, when Israeli soldiers prevented the children and their mothers from having access to the playground in their village.

The playground opened in September having been renovated. Repairs were made to eradicate safety issues.

India: Rahul Gandhi flays use of UAPA against journalists, activists in Tripura

New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI) Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Monday said truth cannot be silenced by booking people under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in Tripura.

He also attacked the BJP, saying its favourite cover-up tactic is "shooting the messenger ".

The reaction came after the police invoked UAPA against social media handles including those of journalists and activists over alleged clashes and attacks on mosques in Tripura.

Lucknow (UP), Nov 7 (PTI) Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Sunday sought to know why the people should believe in BJP's slogan of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas' when the government has failed to win the faith of the protesting farmers.

"The BJP says 'sabka saath, sabka vikas and sabka vishwas'. But, how can people believe this 'jumlaa' (rhetoric) when the country's farmers have been so fiercely protesting against the three farm laws for such a long time and are agitated," she tweeted in Hindi.

06 Nov 2021; MEMO: Greece has adopted brutality against asylum seekers as a policy, German weekly Der Spiegel said.

The EU has clear rules regarding the treatment of asylum-seekers, giving them the right to apply for asylum once they are within EU territory, but Greece violates these rights, Der Spiegel noted on Thursday.

Libya will not attend Paris conference if Israel does

06 Nov 2021; MEMO: Libya will not participate in the Paris conference on Libya if the occupation state of Israel attends, Spokesperson for the National Unity Government (GNU) Mohamed Hammouda revealed earlier this week.

"The government is steadfast in its position and the position of all Libyans and is committed to the Palestinian cause," The Libyan Observer reported Hammouda stating on Tuesday.
