Israel stops mosque construction in Jerusalem

04 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israel yesterday stopped work on the construction of a mosque in occupied East Jerusalem's Issawiya neighbourhood, Safa news agency reported.

Armed Israeli police raided the Palestinian neighbourhood and posted an order to halt the construction of Al-Taqwa Mosque.

Palestinian activist Mohammed Abu Hummus told Safa that the Israeli occupation ordered that construction be stopped under the pretext of that the mosque had no building permit.

Harry Potter star slammed by Israel officials after pro-Palestine post

04 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israeli officials attacked Harry Potter star Emma Watson after she uploaded a pro-Palestinian post on her official Instagram page.

Watson, who played the lead role Hermione Granger in the global franchise, shared an image which read "solidarity is a verb", imposed over images of a Palestinian solidarity demonstration, and stated it was a 'repost' from the 'Bad Activist Collective'.

Scores of Israelis storm Al-Aqsa complex in Jerusalem

02 Jan 2022; MEMO: Scores of Israeli settlers on Sunday forced their way into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, according to a Palestinian agency, Anadolu Agency reported.

In a statement, the Jordan-run Islamic Waqf Department, which oversees holy sites in Jerusalem, said the settlers entered the complex through the Al-Mugharbah Gate under Israeli police protection.

Turkish municipality to rebuild Palestinian home destroyed by Israeli occupation

03 Jan 2022; MEMO: Ugur Ibrahim Altay, Mayor of Turkish city of Konya, reportedly pledged to rebuild the house of a Palestinian family destroyed by the Israeli occupation in occupied West Bank city of Hebron, Safa news agency reported on Sunday.

Owner of the house, Marwa al Atrash, told Safa that Altay did not contact her, but she knew about his intention to rebuild her house from the media.

Israeli occupation extends detention of Sheikh Hassan Yousef

03 Jan 2022; MEMO: An Israeli military court extended on Sunday the detention of Sheikh Hassan Yousef for several days over claims of "inciting terror" and "supporting a terrorist group."

According to the Israeli police sources, Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a senior Hamas official in the occupied West Bank, would be charged in the coming days.

Israeli army kills Palestinian youth in West Bank

31 Dec 2021; MEMO: A Palestinian youth was killed by the Israeli army on Friday in northern West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said, and reported by Anadolu News Agency.

In a statement, the Ministry said Amir Atef Rayyan from Qarawat Bani Hassan town was shot dead by the Israeli soldiers in Salfit city.

According to the Israeli army, Rayyan was shot dead for allegedly attempting to carry out a stabbing attack.

Egypt, UN call on Israel to release Palestinian hunger striker Abu Hawash

31 Dec 2021; MEMO: Egypt and the United Nations are trying to pressure Israel to end the detention of Palestinian prisoner and hunger striker Hisham Abu Hawash, media reported yesterday.

Al-Mayadeen quoted sources as saying that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Secretary-General, Daoud Shehab, informed Egyptian authorities that the resistance would not remain "silent upon Israel's attempts to kill Abu Hawash."
