Pakistan: PM felicitates Kuwaiti Amir, people on their national day

ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday extended profound felicitations, on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, to Amir of State of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people on their national day.

“We (Pakistan) are keen to further build on our excellent bilateral relations,” the prime minister posted on his Twitter handle.

Avalanche Killed Four In N. Afghanistan

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Feb 25 (NNN-ANA) – Four people have been killed, as an avalanche hit a village in Arghanjkhwa district of Afghanistan’s northern Badakhshan province, said Qari Maazudin Ahmadi, head of information and culture of Badakhshan province, today.

The incident took place in Tak Archa village, late yesterday, killing four people, the official told reporters, without providing more details.

A similar incident claimed four lives and destroyed 30 houses in Kofab district of the province, last week.

13 Killed, 20 Injured In Road Accident In Pakistan’s Eastern Province

ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 (NNN-APP) – At least 13 people were killed and over 20 others injured, in a road accident in east Pakistan’s Punjab province, early this morning, said a police official.

District Police Officer, Rizwan Umar Gondal, told local media that, the incident took place at the superhighway M-5, near the Rukanpur area of the province’s Rahim Yar Khan district.

A passenger van overturned on the superhighway, due to a tire burst, when another speeding passenger coach and a jeep rammed into it, killing 13 people on the spot, said the official.

India's push to regulate crypto gains IMF, U.S. support at G20

BENGALURU, Feb 25 (Reuters) - A push by Group of 20 (G20) president India to regulate cryptocurrencies gained support from both the International Monetary Fund and the United States on Saturday as finance chiefs of the bloc wrap up two-days of talks.

India has said it wants a collective global effort to deal with problems posed by cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, and the finance ministry said it had held a seminar for G20 member states to discuss how to come up with a common framework.

India: Most G20 nations condemn Russia for war but China stays silent

BENGALURU, India, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Finance chiefs of the world's largest economies strongly condemned Moscow for its war on Ukraine on Saturday, with only China and Russia itself declining to sign a joint statement.

India, which as chair of the Group of Twenty (G20) economies was hosting a meeting in the city of Bengaluru, was reluctant to raise the issue of the war but Western nations insisted they could not back any outcome that did not include a condemnation.

India: Cantt Board polls in eight Wards to be held on Apr 30 in Kanpur

Kanpur: The Cantonment Board elections will be held in 8 Wards on April 30 this year after a gap of eight long years. As many as. 53,426 voters in all the eight wards will vote at nine places.

Candidates will be able to file their nominations from March 22.

The Board's PRO Amit Yadav said that all preparations have started in this regard.  Votes will be cast at the designated polling places on the scheduled date and time. All the information will be given to the contesting candidates in time.

11 Killed, 10 Injured In Head-On Collision In India’s Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI, Feb 24 (NNN-PTI) – At least 11 people were killed and 10 others injured, in a head-on collision between a goods truck and a pickup van, in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said today.

The accident took place last night, on a main road in Khamariya village, in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, about 85 km north of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.

Pakistan-Afghan border crossing shut after brief reopening

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan shut down a key border crossing with Afghanistan just hours after it was reopened on Thursday, officials said, the latest twist in the controversial closure of the Torkham junction that started earlier this week.

The issue of the crossing, a key trade route for both Afghanistan and Pakistan, has added to increasing tensions between the two countries, which share a troubled and volatile boundary.

Ukraine tensions flare at G-20 finance meetings in India

BENGALURU, India (AP) — Tensions over Russia’s war on Ukraine flared Friday at meetings of financial chiefs of the Group of 20 leading economies, where geopolitics affected the atmosphere if not the agenda of the gathering in the Indian technology hub of Bengaluru.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen condemned the “illegal and unjustified war against Ukraine” at a session attended by Russian officials and reiterated calls for G-20 nations to do more to support Ukraine and hinder Moscow’s war effort.

Six Terrorists Killed In Police Encounter In NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (NNN-APP) – Pakistani police killed six terrorists, during an encounter in the country’s north-west Lakki Marwat district, local media reported today.

Local media, quoting official sources, reported that, the personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department of police, raided a place on intelligence information, in the Dodiwala area of the district, in north-west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, early this morning.
