2 Indian BSF jawans injured in attack by Bangladeshi villagers along intl border

Kolkata, Feb 26 (PTI) Two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were seriously injured and their weapons snatched after more than a hundred Bangladeshi villagers attacked them with sharp-edged weapons in a field along the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal on Sunday, officials said.

"BSF jawans of border outpost Nirmalchar were on duty when they stopped Bangladeshi farmers from bringing their cattle to the fields of Indian farmers.

Official: Taliban forces kill 2 IS members in Kabul raid: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Taliban security forces killed two militants from the Islamic State group and detained a third in an overnight raid in the Afghan capital of Kabul, the spokesman for the Taliban government said Monday.

The regional affiliate of the Islamic State group — known as the Islamic State in Khorasan Province — is a key rival of the Taliban. The militant group has increased its attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover of the country in August 2021. Targets have included Taliban patrols and members of Afghanistan’s Shiite minority.

Four Killed, 10 Wounded In SW Pakistan Blast

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (NNN-APP) – At least four people were killed and 10 others wounded today, in a bomb blast in Pakistan’s south-west Balochistan province, the police said.

According to the police, the blast took place in the Rukni Bazaar, a busy market in the Barkhan district of the province. An explosive device planted in a motorcycle was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

Police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital. The area has been cordoned off by the police.

Bird-hit aircraft makes emergency landing in western India

NEW DELHI, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- An aircraft belonging to India's private airline IndiGo was diverted to the nearest airport after being hit by a bird on Sunday, according to the country's civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The plane landed safely and no injuries were reported.

Indian gov't says no restrictions on export of onions

NEW DELHI, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government on Sunday said there was no ban on exports of onions from the South Asian country, but the export of onion seeds is restricted.

According to the federal ministry of commerce and industry, India has exported onions worth 523.8 million U.S. dollars from April to December 2022.

Sri Lanka police fire tear gas at election protest; 15 hurt

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — Police in Sri Lanka on Sunday fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters angry over a decision to postpone local elections after the government said it cannot finance them because of the country’s crippling economic crisis.

About 15 people were treated for minor injuries, according to Colombo National Hospital.
