Kanpur: The policemen started fighting amongst themselves over the recently released film The Kashmir Files. It has come to the fore here.

The dispute between ACP's gunner and driver enhanced so much that the situation came to a standstill.

At present, taking action on the gunner and the driver, both have been put on the police lines.

In fact, there was a dispute between the gunner Naresh Singh and driver Swatantra Yadav, ACP Vikas Pandey of Govind Nagar Circle, regarding the much talked about film, and as a result a fight ensued.

India: 125 year old yoga guru receives Padma Shri

New Delhi, Mar 21 (PTI) Walking bare feet in the palatial Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan, 125-year-old Swami Sivananda received a standing ovation when he received the Padma Shri award from President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday.

Before receiving the award, the yoga practitioner prostrated first before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then before the President, drawing another round of applause from the guest at the civil investiture ceremony.

Returning the greeting, Prime Minister Modi promptly bowed and touched the ground.

India: Opposition walks out of LS over fuel price hike

New Delhi, Mar 22 (PTI) Opposition parties protested in Lok Sabha on Tuesday against the increase in prices of fuel and cooking gas and staged a walkout demanding a rollback.

Raising the issue after Question Hour, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the opposition parties had been claiming that the prices of diesel and petrol would increase after the election process.

Members of the Congress, TMC, NCP, DMK and Left parties raised slogans from their seats against the fuel price hike and demanded a rollback.

India: 70 pc of Waqf land encroached in Maha

Mumbai, Mar 22 (PTI) At least 70 per cent of land owned by the Waqf board in Maharashtra has been encroached upon, state minister Nawab Malik has said.

Shiv Sena MLC Manisha Kayande raised the matter in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, asking if the Waqf land had been encroached upon in connivance with officials of the revenue department.

It is partially true. Some 70 per cent Waqf land is under encroachment," Malik said in a written reply.

India: RBI cancels license of Kanpur-based People's Cooperative Bank Ltd

Kanpur: The Reserve Bank of India said it has cancelled the license of Kanpur-based People's Co-operative Bank Limited on Monday.

The reason is that the bank does not have adequate capital and earning prospects.

The Reserve Bank of India vide order dated March 17, 2022, has cancelled the license of People's Co-operative Bank Limited, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Accordingly, the bank ceases to carry on banking business, with effect from the close of business on March 21, 2022.

OIC FMs to meet in Islamabad tomorrow as Pakistan hosts 48th session

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his keynote address at the inaugural session will highlight Pakistan’s role and contribution towards OIC and deliberate on the challenges faced by the Muslim world.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will deliver a statement on the occasion as after the election of bureau members, as the OIC chair will be handed over to Pakistan.

Russia’s Sputnik Light becomes first single-dose vaccine authorized in India

India's Hetero pharmaceutical company reported on Monday that it had got the green light from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for the production and sales of the developed in Russia Sputnik Light vaccine for restricted emergency use in India. India Rs slumps 26 paise to 76.10 against USD in early trade

India: Man held for raping 8-year-old girl in Nagpur

Nagpur, Mar 20 (PTI) A 42-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a mentally unwell 8-year-old girl in Imambada area of Nagpur on Sunday, police said.

An official said Suraj Lokhande, who runs a juice stall in the locality, abducted the girl in the afternoon and raped her in his home.

She narrated her ordeal to her elder sister after which a complaint was filed, the Imambada police station official added.
