Armenia says Russian border guards deployed in region bordering Azerbaijan - Ifax

MOSCOW, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Armenia's defence ministry said on Thursday that Russian border guards had been deployed in the Tavush region in the country's northeast, bordering Azerbaijan, Interfax news agency reported.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan last week proposed that Russian border forces be stationed along the length of the border with Azerbaijan amid rising tensions between Yerevan and Baku, the TASS news agency reported.

MOSCOW (AP) — Space engineers will analyze whether a glitch that caused the International Space Station to spin out of its normal orientation could have impacted any of its systems, a Russian space official said Wednesday.

Sergei Krikalev, the director of crewed space programs at the Russian space corporation Roscosmos, emphasized that last week’s incident did not inflict any observable damage to the space station, but he said that experts would need to study its potential implications.

Russia to feature latest Lesochek small-size portable jammer at Army-2021 arms show

"In late August, this station will be on static display at the Army-2021 military-technical forum," the press office said in a statement.

Russia developing new Kh-95 long-range hypersonic missile

MOSCOW, August 3. /TASS/: Russia is developing the Kh-95 new long-range hypersonic missile for its Aerospace Force, Chief of the Military Academy of the Russian General Staff Colonel-General Vladimir Zarudnitsky wrote in an article published in Military Thought magazine on Tuesday.

"Today supremacy in the aerospace is a vital condition for ground and naval groupings of troops (forces) to conduct combat operations successfully," the article reads.

Russia does not believe Iran targeted Israel-managed ship near Oman

03 Aug 2021; MEMO: Russia has said that it does not believe that Iran targeted the Israeli-managed tanker Mercer Street off the coast of Oman last week.

According to Iran Press, Zamir Kabulov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy to Afghanistan, stressed that Moscow does not believe that Iran was behind the attack on the ship.

"We do not have the slightest reason to believe [that Iran was involved in the attack]," Kabulov was quoted as having told Sputnik.

Russian court restricts Navalny ally Sobol's freedoms for 18 months

MOSCOW, Aug 3 (Reuters) - A Russian court on Tuesday sentenced Lyubov Sobol, a close ally of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, to 1-1/2 years of parole-like restrictions after finding her guilty of inciting people to break COVID-19 safety regulations.

Sobol, who says the accusation against her is politically-motivated nonsense, was charged after an unsanctioned street protest in support of Navalny earlier this year.
