Russia registers over 23,200 daily COVID-19 cases, a new low since July 2 — crisis center

MOSCOW, July 26. /TASS/: Russia confirmed 23,239 COVID-19 cases over the past day, a new low since July 2, bringing the total caseload to 6,149,780, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Monday.

The number of coronavirus cases grew by 0.38% in relative terms. 

Some 2,161 COVID-19 cases were registered in the Moscow Region, 1,929 in St. Petersburg, 529 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 494 in the Sverdlovsk Region and 483 in the Krasnoyarsk Region.

Currently, as many as 488,345 people are undergoing treatment in Russia.

Russia considers Kuril Islands issue closed, says senator

MOSCOW, July 26. /TASS/: Japan must understand that Russia considers the issue of the Kuril Islands closed and come to grips that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is visiting Russian territory, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council’s (upper house of parliament) Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov told TASS on Monday.

Earlier, the Japanese Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin to express protest over Mishustin’s visit to the Iturup Island.

Kremlin critic Navalny's website blocked by Russian regulator

MOSCOW, July 26 (Reuters) - Russian Internet watchdog Roskomnadzor has blocked jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny's website, navalny.com, his team said on Monday.

A Russian court in June approved a request by prosecutors to declare organisations linked to Navalny as extremist, in a move that outlaws the groups.

Russian PM visits Pacific islands claimed by Japan

MOSCOW (AP) — Russia’s prime minister on Monday visited Pacific islands claimed by Japan, a move that brought a protest from Tokyo, and said the government is considering setting up a special economic zone there.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is touring Russia’s Far East and Siberia this week, and the Kuril Islands were his first stop on Monday.

Putin reviews Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg on Russia’s Navy Day

ST. PETERSBURG, July 25. /TASS/: Russian President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin is reviewing the Main Naval Parade on the Neva River in St. Petersburg on Russia’s Navy Day on Sunday.

Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov reported to Putin about the readiness for the naval parade.

Russia: Pirs module to be undocked from ISS on July 26

MOSCOW, July 25. /TASS/: The Pirs module will be undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) on July 26, chief of Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said on Sunday.

"The Pirs module will be undocked from the Russian segment of the ISS at 13:56 Moscow time on July 26 and incombustible elements will fall into the Pacific at 17:51 Moscow time on the same day," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Russia reports 24,072 new coronavirus cases in past day

MOSCOW, July 25. /TASS/: Russia’s new confirmed coronavirus cases grew by 24,072 in the past 24 hours to 6,126,541, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.

Russia’s relative coronavirus growth rate equaled 0.39% in the past day, the latest data suggest.

Specifically, 2,191 new coronavirus cases were identified in the Moscow Region, 1,934 in St. Petersburg, 534 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 491 in the Sverdlovsk Region and 484 in the Krasnoyarsk Region in the past 24 hours, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported.

Russia: Contracts worth over $3.59 bln signed during MAKS 2021 air show outside Moscow

ZHUKOVSKY /Moscow region/, July 25. /TASS/: Contracts to a sum of 265 billion rubles ($3.59 billion) were signed on the sidelines of the MAKS 2021 international aerospace show that took place in Zhukovsky outside Moscow from July 20 through 25, the administration of the event said on Sunday.

"The sum of agreements signed [during the show] is 265 billion rubles," it said, adding that 831 companies from 56 world nations took part in the aerospace show, including in the online format. The program included more than 100 events, more than 350 reports that were heard by 5,000 people.

Putin says Russian navy can carry out 'unpreventable strike' if needed

MOSCOW, July 25 (Reuters) - The Russian navy can detect any enemy and launch an "unpreventable strike" if needed, President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday, weeks after a UK warship angered Moscow by passing the Crimea peninsula.

"We are capable of detecting any underwater, above-water, airborne enemy and, if required, carry out an unpreventable strike against it," Putin said speaking at a navy day parade in St Petersburg.

Gazprom did not offer Ukraine to buy Russian gas, company says

MOSCOW, July 24. /TASS/: Gazprom did not offer Ukraine to buy Russian gas, the gas holding announced on Saturday following a statement by Yuriy Vitrenko, CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

The Russian gas giant also said that the comments of its CEO Alexei Miller, on the volume of transit through Ukraine after 2024 related to purchases from the EU under new contracts.
