Pentagon refutes reports of withdrawal of US forces from 3 Syria bases

05 Sep 2021; MEMO: The US Department of Defence has denied the validity of Iranian media reports about the withdrawal of US troops from its military bases in Syria.

A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed in a statement to the Russian RIA Novosti: "This is not true. The standards of our mission in Syria remain the same. We made calls this morning to confirm this."

High-level Lebanese delegation arrives in Syria to talk fuel

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — A senior Lebanese government delegation arrived in Syria on Saturday for talks expected to focus on the crippling fuel crisis that has paralyzed Lebanon. It marked the highest official visit since Syria’s civil war began more than a decade ago.

Lebanon is expecting a shipment of fuel from Iran, which local media said is to be delivered at a major Syrian port and transported by land. The leader of the Iran-backed Lebanese militant Hezbollah group has arranged with allies in Tehran to ship the fuel to Lebanon to help ease the small country’s fuel shortages.

Armed rebels start surrendering to Syrian army in Daraa amid new deal

DAMASCUS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A new deal to defuse the tension in Daraa province in southern Syria went into force on Wednesday, starting with a number of armed rebels surrendering to the Syrian authorities, according to state news agency SANA and a war monitor.

A number of armed men from the Daraa al-Balad area started a reconciliation process with the Syrian authorities, handing over their weapons as part of a new Russian-mediated deal to end months-long tension in that province.

Missiles target US base in eastern Syria

01 Sep 2021; MEMO: Two missiles targeted a US military base in the Koniko gas field in the surroundings of Deir Ez-Zor in eastern Syria yesterday evening, Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported.

The news organisation quoted local sources in Deir Ez-Zor as saying that the Koniko gas field base was targeted by two missiles, but it was not confirmed whether the attack resulted in injuries or casualties.

The agency gave no further details about the party responsible for the attack.

Syrian President Discusses Economic Cooperation With Iranian FM

DAMASCUS, Aug 30 (NNN-SANA) – Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, yesterday discussed economic cooperation with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, in the capital, Damascus.

Both sides discussed economic and trade cooperation, and ways to cope with the sanctions imposed by Western countries, mainly from the United States.

Talks between the two sides also focused on the latest regional and international developments.

Syria calls for lifting Western sanctions

DAMASCUS, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Syrian Parliament Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh on Tuesday slammed the Western sanctions imposed on Syria as a violation of international Law, calling for lifting such measures completely, according to the state news agency SANA.

Sabbagh, during his meeting with a visiting delegation from the European Parliament headed by French politician Thierry Mariani, voiced appreciation for Mariani's stances in supporting Syria, affirming the importance of conveying what Syrians have been suffering to the public in France and Europe.

Syria: regime meets delegation of MEPs aiming to restore ties

23 Aug 2021; MEMO: Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad met with a delegation of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) led by French politician Thierry Mariani on Saturday. Speculation is mounting about the possibility of European states re-establishing ties with the regime in Damascus.

According to the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the delegation discussed with Assad the ongoing situation in his country and the region as a whole. They apparently attempted to come up with ways to improve it and implement changes.

Syria: 4 children killed in Assad regime attack on Idlib

20 Aug 2021; MEMO: Four Syrian children were killed today and two civilians injured in shelling by the Assad regime and Iranian-affiliated groups, in breach of a truce, according to Syria Civil Defence.

Regime forces stationed in the village of Biske in the northwestern Idlib province violated the ceasefire by shelling villages in the province's de-escalation zone.

The attack took place in Idlib's village of Kansafra, said Syria Civil Defence, known as the White Helmets.

Israeli Missile Strike Hits Syria’s Quneitra: Report

DAMASCUS, Aug 18 (NNN-SANA) – An Israeli missile strike, targeted military sites in Syria’s south-western province of Quneitra on Tuesday, Syrian state news agency reported.

The strike hit military positions near the town of Hadar, in the northern countryside of Quneitra, the report said.

The report gave no further details about the attack, but the pro-government Sham FM radio, said that, no casualties were reported.
