Syrian lab found wheat seeds offered by U.S. contain harmful worm infection

DAMASCUS, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Syrian agriculture officials and farmers have been complaining that the wheat seeds, recently provided by the United States for farmers in Syria's northeastern province of al-Hasakah, contain a high degree of nematode (plant-parasitic worm) infection that would harm the soil.

Russia deploys S-300 defence system in Syria airport

15 Nov 2021; MEMO: Russia has deployed the S-300 anti-missile defence system in Tabqa airport in the Governorate of Raqqa, northeastern Syria, Russian ANNA News reported on Saturday.

The agency said Moscow deployed the defence system in Tabqa airport and plans to deploy 12 Mi-8 transport helicopters and five Ka-52 attack helicopters at the Sarrin base in the city of Ayn Al-Arab (Kobani), east of Aleppo.

The agency explained that the deployments aim at securing the airspace in northern and eastern regions of Syria.

Turkey, Syria regime deploy military to Aleppo

08 Nov 2021; MEMO:Turkey and the Syrian regime of President Bashar Al-Assad have recently deployed army reinforcements into the countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria, local media outlets reported.

According to reports, a Turkish convoy consisting of tanks, heavy artillery, personnel carriers and armoured vehicles entered the city of Al-Bab near Aleppo while army reinforcements have also been deployed to the Syrian-Turkish border opposite the city of Ayn Al-Arab (Kobani).

European tourism agencies begin offering tours to Assad's Syria

According to a report by the German newspaper Deutsche Welle (DW), a number of tourism agencies based in Europe are enabling trips to and throughout Syria.

Syrian Gov’t Condemns Turkish Extension Of Troop Deployment In Syria

DAMASCUS, Oct 31 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry yesterday condemned the Turkish decision, to extend its troops’ deployment in Syria and Iraq, for two more years, saying, such practices threaten international peace and security.

In a statement, the ministry stressed that the regional and international status quo can’t tolerate the practices of the Turkish government.

24 executed in Syria for starting wildfires

22 Oct 2021; MEMO: Syria executed 24 people after convicting them on terrorism charges for igniting last year's devastating wildfires, the Justice Ministry said Thursday, AP reports.

According to the report, those executed were charged with terrorist acts as they started the wildfires, the justice ministry said in a statement carried by state media on Thursday.

No details were provided on those who were executed by the regime.

14 killed in Damascus army bus explosion

DAMASCUS, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people were killed and two others wounded in a bomb attack on an army bus in central Damascus on Wednesday, state news agency SANA reported.

Citing a military statement, the report said three explosive devices were affixed to the bottom of the military bus, two of which were detonated at the President Bridge in the heart of Damascus while the third one fell down without exploding and was later dismantled by a bomb squad.
