China sends over 4,000 tons of rice to Syria

17 Jan 2022; MEMO: China has sent over 4,000 tons of rice to Syria, amid the ongoing economic crisis and shortage of food throughout the country over the past two years.

At the headquarters of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) in Damascus yesterday, Chinese ambassador, Feng Biao, and the head of SARC, Khaled Hboubati, signed the deal for the delivery of the food aid.

Another rocket hits near oilfield, US base in eastern Syria

16 Jan 2022; MEMO: A rocket hit the Al-Omar oilfield Saturday in the Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria where US forces are stationed.

Quoting local sources, Anadolu Agency reported that the rocket fire targeted the surrounding Green Village area where US forces are stationed in the oilfield, which is under the control of the Kurdish group YPG.

While it is not yet known where the attack originated, sources reported that US forces fired artillery and rockets in the direction from where the rockets came.

Syria joins China Belt and Road Initiative

13 Jan 2022; MEMO: Syria and China have signed a memorandum of understanding on a number of issues, bringing Damascus into the fold of Beijing's Silk Road initiative.

In a meeting at the Planning and International Cooperation Commission's building in the Syrian capital yesterday, the agreement was signed by the Head of the Planning and International Cooperation Commission, Fadi Al-Khalil and the Chinese Ambassador, Feng Biao.

Syria Joins China’s Belt & Road Initiative

DAMASCUS, Jan 13 (NNN-SANA) – Syria yesterday joined China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which will help Syria open broad horizons of cooperation with China and other countries.

The ceremony of Syria’s admission into the initiative took place at the Planning and International Cooperation Commission, in the capital, Damascus, and was attended by Fadi Khalil, head of the commission, and Feng Biao, China’s ambassador to Syria, during which, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Syria joining the BRI.

US beefs up military presence in Syria oil fields

08 Jan 2022; MEMO: Two days after rocket attacks, the US has dispatched military reinforcements to its bases in the oil fields in eastern Syria, local sources told Anadolu Agency on Friday.

"American forces based in Iraq sent military reinforcements consisting of 30 trucks carrying armoured vehicles, tanks and bulldozers," the sources shared.

They also said that the reinforcements included boxes expected to hold munition and rockets.

Syria: Ten rockets hit near US protected oilfields

05 Jan 2022; MEMO: Ten rockets were fired from Syria's eastern Mayadin region on Wednesday, apparently targeting the Al-Omar oilfield in the Deir ez-Zor province of eastern Syria, where US forces are also stationed, Anadolu News Agency reports.

However, these rockets landed in barren areas surrounding the oilfield, causing no injuries or damage, according to local sources who requested anonymity, adding that, in retaliation, US artillery targeted Mayadin.

Syria regime incurs heavy losses at hands of Daesh

04 Jan 2022; MEMO: Syrian regime forces have incurred losses at the hands of Daesh in the desert region of Badia, in the east of the country.

State-run news agency SANA reported that five members of the regime's forces were killed and 20 others were wounded on Sunday when Daesh militants attacked their military bus with a missile.

US does not support rehabilitating Syria's Al-Assad

01 Jan 2022; MEMO: Commenting on Bahrain's reappointment of its ambassador to Damascus, Washington declared that it does not support rehabilitating Syria's President Bashar Al-Assad, Alhurra news website reported on Friday.

"Washington does not support rehabilitating Bashar Al-Assad," a spokesperson for the US Department of State was reported by Alhurra saying.
