India: No floor test in MP, House adjourned over coronavirus concern

Bhopal, Mar 16 (PTI) In a reprieve for beleaguered Kamal Nath-led government, the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned till March 26 in view of the state government's concern over coronavirus even as the BJP raised the demand for holding of a floor test as directed by Governor Lalji Tandon.

After the Budget session began at 11 am after singing of Vande Mataram, the governor began his customary address to the House which lasted for barely two minutes, as he didn't read out the entire content and left with Speaker NP Prajapati.

India: Senior students appear at exams, juniors relax under corona fear

KANPUR: Scare of coronavirus has impacted on the people's minds so much that they are checking their wards to appear at the examinations. They have begun to fear the situation that has worsened. It is being advised to not to remain present at the place where more than fifty people gather at a time.

At the first instance, it was found that one father-in-law was advising his daughter-in-law to avoid going to college appear at examination. It appeared odd to others as to why has he restricting her to appear at the second-year examinations? 

8 Pakistanis repatriated from India

New Delhi, Mar 14 (PTI) Eight Pakistani nationals, who were jailed in India, were repatriated on Saturday, the Pakistan High Commission said.

These individuals were handed over to Pakistani authorities at the Attari/Wagah border in the presence of an official of the Pakistan High Commission, the mission said in a statement.

Abdul Rashid, Mahmood Ahmed, Syed Javed Iqbal, Ghulam Akbar, Irfan Ullah, Feroze Alwardeen, Javed Aslam and Zahoor Ahmed have been repatriated to Pakistan, the statement said.

India: Two CAF jawans killed by Naxal terrorists in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Mar 14 (PTI) Two Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) personnel were killed in naxal ambush in the jungles of Chhattisgarh's Bastar district on Saturday, the police said.

A CRPF jawan was also injured in a blast triggered by naxals in a separate incident in the same area, they said.

India: Yes Bank reports Rs 18,564-cr loss for Dec quarter

Mumbai, Mar 14 (PTI) Yes Bank reported on Saturday a staggering Rs 18,654-crore loss for the December quarter due to higher recognition of dud assets on the books, and an erosion of capital buffers to the brink.

The gross non-performing assets shot-up to Rs 40,709 crore or 18.87 per cent of assets as of December 31, 2019, up from the preceding September quarter's Rs 17,134 crore or 7.39 per cent, which forced the bank to set aside Rs 24,765 crore as provisions for the expected reverses and eroded the bottomline.

India: 3 suspected coronavirus patients flee from hospital

Mumbai, Mar 14 (PTI) Three suspected coronavirus patients who were quarantined left a government hospital in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district on Saturday evening without informing anybody, the police said.

By late night, however, two of them returned to the Ahmednagar district civil hospital. Search was on for the third patient, a Topkhana police station officer said.

India: Petrol price cut by 12 paise/litre, diesel by 14 paise

New Delhi, Mar 15 (PTI) Petrol price was on Sunday cut by 12 paise a litre and diesel rates by 14 paise as oil companies moderated rate reduction amid the fall in global prices to absorb the hike in excise duty on fuel by the government.

Petrol in Delhi now costs Rs 69.75 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs 62.44, according to a price notification of state-owned oil firms.
