It was reported that Sushila ran an affair with Prem, already married. When she insisted on marriage, the latter took it otherwise and hatched a conspiracy with his associates to kill her.

Kanpur: The city's mayor seat will no longer be reserved for the woman candidate. This has been made clear with the fresh formula on reservations in the urban local bodies elections.

Now, the reservation will be about 35% of the 17 posts for women candidates.

The unreserved mayoral seats include Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad and Ghaziabad.

Six mayoral seats have been reserved for women. Three of these are for women of the general category and three for women of the reserved category.

NEW DELHI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The quality of air in India's Delhi deteriorated to the "Severe" category on Sunday, and as a result restrictions on construction and demolition were re-imposed to bring down air pollution levels.

Taking a note of the rise in air pollution levels, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said in an order that as the air quality index (AQI) had slipped into the "Severe" category owing to calm wind and stable atmospheric conditions, all actions would be implemented with immediate effect to bring down air pollution levels.

He is reportedly in jail for allegedly harassing and setting a woman's house on fire in a bid to allegedly capture her house located in the city's posh area.

Barwani (MP), Dec 3 (PTI) A government school teacher has been suspended for attending the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh's Barwani district, an official said on Saturday.

Rajesh Kannoje, a teacher with a primary school under the state's Tribal Affairs Department in Kanasya, was suspended on November 25, a day after he took part in the yatra. The issue came to light after his suspension order surfaced on social media.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (PTI) The case for the proposed procurement of a fleet of Predator drones from the US is under process, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar said on Saturday.

The original proposal was to procure 30 MQ-9B Predator armed drones at a cost of over USD 3 billion to crank up India's surveillance apparatus along the frontier with China as well as in the Indian Ocean region.

Kanpur: A vegetable vendor lost both his legs after being run over by a train here on Friday. He was assembling his belongings allegedly thrown on the tracks during an anti-encroachment drive. The incident happened in the Kalyanpur area.

An eyewitness claimed that the victim went to the tracks to pick up his belongings and his weighing scale, allegedly thrown by the men in khaki on railway tracks. He was run over by an oncoming train.

NEW DELHI, Nov 30 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government has lifted the ban, imposed nearly three months ago, on exports of organic non-basmati rice, including broken rice, said an official notification, by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), issued late yesterday.

A part of the federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the DGFT is essentially involved in the regulation and promotion of foreign trade, through regulation.
