India: Kanpur youths capture Himalayan Griffon Vulture from Eidgah cemetery

Kanpur: A lot of murmur gathers following grabbing of a rare Himalayan Griffon Vulture by locals from the Eidgah cemetery in Colonelganj area here. It was later handed over to the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, as reported.

Kanpurites could not prevent their extreme excitement after the rare capture of one of the biggest bird species based in the cold Himalayan regions.

The excited youths did not lose their chance to pose with the scavenger bird. They were even seen towing its wings to a full stretch to demonstrate their grab.

North-westerly icy winds impact Kanpur immensely

India: Air India grounds crew over handling of unruly passenger on flight

NEW DELHI, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Air India has issued show cause notice and de-rostered one pilot and four cabin crew as it investigates the handling of an unruly passenger on a flight from New York to Delhi in November, the airline's chief executive office said on Saturday.

The Tata group-owned airline has faced criticism from India's aviation regulator following an incident on a Nov. 26 flight in which a male passenger, while apparently inebriated, urinated on a female co-passenger.

A second similar incident occurred last month on a flight from Paris to Delhi.

22 die from heart attacks in India's Uttar Pradesh amid cold wave shock

NEW DELHI, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least 22 people died from heart attacks in one single day amid cold wave conditions in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, officials said Friday.

The deaths were reported in Kanpur, about 88 km west of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

According to data released by Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (LPS Institute of Cardiology) Kanpur, on Thursday, 723 heart patients came to the emergency and outpatient department (OPD) of the hospital.

India: Woman dragged under car for 12 km in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 2 (PTI) The 20-year-old woman, killed in the early hours of New Year after her scooter was hit by a car, was dragged for 12 kilometres under the vehicle on the city's roads, police said and added culpable homicide among other stringent sections on Monday in the case following protests over alleged "shoddy investigation".

Police said that the victim's body was found naked on roadside in Kanjhawala area in outer Delhi and a medical board conducted a post-mortem on Monday, which will establish if she was sexually assaulted by the accused.

Phuket-bound IndiGo plane returns to Delhi due to hydraulic system failure

New Delhi, Jan 3 (PTI) An IndiGo plane enroute to Phuket suffered a hydraulic system problem and returned to Delhi airport on Tuesday morning, according to officials.

The A320 neo plane, which left for Phuket in Thailand at around 6.25 am, returned to the airport here at about 7.20 am due to hydraulic failure, airport sources said. The sources said the aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport.

Police: 2 kids among 6 people die in Kashmir village attack: India

SRINAGAR, India (AP) — Two children were killed and five other civilians wounded in a blast in a village in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Monday, a day after assailants sprayed bullets toward a row of homes, leaving at least four dead, police said.

The blast occurred near one of the houses targeted overnight in Dhangri village in southern Rajouri district. A 5-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl died in the blast. The injured were being treated at a hospital.
