New York, Nov 11 (PTI) An Indian national in the US has been charged with a USD 8 million COVID-19 relief fraud scheme and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted, according to court documents.

MUMBAI, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- India's financial capital Mumbai has banned the use of drones, remote-controlled micro light aircraft, para gliders and other flying objects till Dec. 12, said a senior police official referring to an order on Thursday.

Anti-social elements might use these flying objects to endanger the life of the public at large, destroy public property and cause disturbance to the law and order in the city, the order said.

NEW DELHI, Nov 8 (Reuters) - India will continue buying Russian oil because it benefits the country, India's foreign minister said on Tuesday after meeting his Russian counterpart for the fifth time this year, adding that the two countries were expanding their trade ties.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is visiting Moscow for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine in February. His trip comes as U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visits New Delhi this week to hold talks with Indian officials, including possibly on capping Russian oil prices.

Beijing, Nov 7 (PTI) India has apprised China of the recent stringent regulations issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for Indian students studying in Chinese medical colleges to obtain permission to practice back home and asked authorities here to ensure that the students are qualified to comply with the new rules.

NEW DELHI, Nov 6 (NNN-PTI) – India has allowed sugar exports between Nov 1, and Oct 31 next year, up to a limit, an order issued by the federal government stated yesterday.

Sugar mills located across the country, have been given individual export quotas, totalling up to six million tonnes of exports up till May 31, 2023. This would be the first tranche of sugar exports that has been allowed.

NEW DELHI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Russia, which met India's minimal oil requirements till March this year, emerged as the country's biggest oil supplier in October surpassing traditional sellers Saudi Arabia and Iraq, India's private news network Zee News reported on Sunday.

Citing data from the energy cargo tracker Vortexa, the report said Russia in October accounted for 22 percent of India's total crude imports, compared to Iraq's 20.5 percent and Saudi Arabia's 16 percent.

NEW DELHI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Restrictions imposed in the Indian capital and its surrounding areas following the "Severe" air pollution were partially lifted on Sunday as the quality of air improved to "Very Poor" category during the day in Delhi.

The restrictions were imposed three days ago. Now the entry of diesel vehicles into Delhi would be allowed, and the ban on construction and demolition activities in linear public projects such as highways, roads and bridges would be lifted.

NEW DELHI, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 80 percent of families living in India's Delhi and surrounding areas have someone suffering from air pollution related ailments, a new survey has found.

The findings assume significance in the wake of air pollution touching alarming levels over the past few days, with the air quality index (AQI) crossing into the "severe" category.

Lucknow, Nov 4 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court on Friday expressed surprise that though the ground reality related to dengue is very pitiable in the city, everything is being said to be fine in government records.

The Lucknow bench of the high court said that if it had its own agency, it would have definitely cross checked the government data, which stressed that the situation is under control and there is no lack of beds and other facilities in the government hospitals to check vector borne diseases in the capital.

New Delhi, Nov 4 (PTI) InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of the country's largest airline IndiGo, on Friday reported a widening of loss to Rs 1,583.34 crore for the September quarter due to higher fuel costs and foreign exchange loss.

The airline, also the world's seventh largest in terms of daily departures, reported a loss of Rs 381.8 crore, excluding the foreign exchange loss of Rs 1,201.5 crore, in the latest quarter under review.
