India: BJP youth wing leader murder; 3 more arrested in Karnataka

New Delhi, Nov 5 (PTI) The NIA arrested three more alleged conspirators behind the murder of BJP youth wing leader Praveen Nettaru during searches at multiple locations in Karnataka on Saturday, an official spokesperson said.

The National Investigation Agency carried out the searches at five locations in Dakshina Kannada, Hubli and Mysuru and arrested K Mahammad Iqbal, K Ismail Shafi and Ibrahim Sha, the spokesperson said.

Shimla, Nov 5 (PTI) Reviving the old pension scheme, 300 units of free power, a Rs 680-crore StartUp fund, one lakh jobs and Rs 1,500 per month for women between 18 to 60 years are among the promises the Congress made in its manifesto for the Himachal Pradesh polls.

The party also said it is contesting the November 12 election under a collective leadership and will decide on the chief ministerial candidate after discussion with elected MLAs and the party's high command.

India: Bharat Jodo Yatra (Unite India Journey) enters 10th day in Telangana

Hyderabad, Nov 5 (PTI) AICC leader Rahul Gandhi will address a massive public meeting on November 7 at Jukkal before entering Maharashtra as Bharat Jodo Yatra is set to finish the Telangana leg on the same day, party sources said.

Senior Congress leaders from the state, including Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Revanth Reddy, paid a visit to the venue on Friday. The Telangana leg of the foot march began on October 24 and will end on November 7 before entering Maharashtra.

India: Vehicles stuck on Ganga bridge up to Rishi Nagar Turn in Shuklaganj

Kanpur: There was a heavy jam on the Ganga river bridge connecting Unnao and vehicles were stuck till Rishi Nagar towards Shuklaganj.

The daily commuters coming from Shuklaganj to Kanpur got late due to the jam. Ganga Ghat Outpost police kept trying to clear the jam and providing space to the vehicles.

In Unnao's Ganga Ghat area, the road narrowed at Balu Ghat Turn and heavy traffic led to a one kilometer long jam from New Gangapul to Rishinagar Turn on Saturday morning.

The teacher asked the innocent student to go over the terrace from the ceiling of the bathroom, but when the student refused, she scolded him. In some way, the innocent ascended onto the roof but slipped. His hand was broken.

Facebook-parent Meta's India head Ajit Mohan quits to join Snap

BENGALURU/NEW DELHI, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Meta Platforms Inc's (META.O) India head Ajit Mohan has quit after four years in the role to join rival Snap Inc (SNAP.N), the companies said on Thursday, a high-profile exit for the Facebook parent in its biggest market.

Mohan has stepped down with immediate effect and Manish Chopra, director and head of partnerships at Meta India, will take over as interim head, a Meta spokesperson told Reuters.

Mohan will join Snap as president, Asia-Pacific and report into Chief Operating Officer Jerry Hunter, a Snap spokesperson told Reuters.

India: Delhi's air a 'crime against humanity', spurs calls to close schools

NEW DELHI, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Delhi's 20 million residents were effectively breathing smoke on Thursday as the air quality index (AQI) breached the "severe" and "hazardous" categories in nearly all monitoring stations of the Indian capital, raising calls to close schools.

The AQI exceeded 450 at many places early in the day, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board. A reading over 400 affects healthy people, with serious impacts on those with existing diseases, the federal government says.

Kanpur: The Kanpur Municipal Corporation engineers have reportedly prepared two files of the same potholed road in Ward 27 (Nankari) under Zone VI.

In one, patchwork is shown and in the other, a road construction diagram with a drain has been shown.

The ward councillor Nirmala Mishra complained to the Chief engineer Manish Awasthi on Wednesday. Whereas, the Municipal Commissioner returned the file.

53 People Drowned In India’s Bihar During Four-Day Hindu Festival

NEW DELHI, Nov 2 (NNN-PTI) – At least 53 people drowned, in India’s eastern state of Bihar, during the four-day Hindu festival, Chhath Puja, local media quoted officials as saying, today.

The drownings have taken place in rivers and other water bodies across various districts of the state, during the four-day festival.

India: Missing student found dead near railway track in Kanpur

Kanpur: A class 12 student had gone reportedly missing, but he was found dead in a secluded place near his school, police said.

Assistant Divisional Commissioner of Police (Kanpur), Brijesh Srivastava, said that there were no injury marks on the body of 18-year-old Ronil Sarkar.

"We are awaiting the post-mortem report. The police will investigate how the boy reached the isolated place, around 500 metres away from his school," he expanded.

Meanwhile, Police have revised the missing report case into a murder First Information Report.
