India: Two arrested for supplying meat in Mathura

Mathura, Sep 22 (PTI) Two people were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to supply meat in the city, police said.

The sample of the meat has been sent for investigation to confirm its nature, Superintendent of Police Martand Prakash Singh said.

"Ayub, a member of Nagar Panchayat Raya, and his associate, Mausim, were caught red-handed while attempting to supply the meat in the restricted area," he said.

The accused were in a vehicle carrying three quintals of meat which has been confiscated, the officials said.

India: FIR against BJP worker for `molesting' woman colleague

Mumbai, Sep 22 (PTI) A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against a BJP worker here on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a colleague, police said.

According to the complainant, the incident took place last year when she was trying to join the party.

The accused, who had promised to help her become a BJP member, molested her inside the office of a party corporator in suburban Borivali, she alleged.

A case under IPC section 354 (molestation) was registered but no arrest has been made so far, a police official said.

India: Teenaged girl gang-raped in Muzaffarnagar in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 23 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

According to the police, the men took the girl to a jungle after threatening her with a pistol when she had gone to throw garbage on Wednesday.

The accused left the girl in the jungle after rape. She was rescued by her family member who had gone out searching for her after she failed to return home.

India: Minor girl raped by neighbour in UP

Ballia (UP), Sep 23 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 16-year-old neighbour in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

The accused has been apprehended and investigation is on, the police said.

According to a complaint filed by the girl's family, the alleged rape took place on Monday in a village in the Bhimpura police station area of the district.

The girl told her family about it on Wednesday after she fell ill and had to be taken to a doctor.

India: Rs five crore to be spent on setting up visitors' gallery at Green Park

Kanpur: A sum of Rs five crore will be spent on establishing the visitors' gallery in the Green Park here. It is said to be completed within four or five months.

The proposed scheme of a visitors' gallery and the pavilion project at the Old Directors pavilion is reportedly approved by the Smart City Ltd.

The stadium is going to host India-New Zealand test match in November.

Notably, this international cricket match will be held at the Green Park Stadium after five long years.

Kanpur: Reportedly, the district magistrate of Kanpur Nagar district has been changed. The 2011-batch IAS officer Vishakhji has been made the new District Magistrate here. He is a B.Tech. He belongs to Kerala.

At present, he had been serving as Special Secretary of UP Chief Minister.

He was earlier posted as DM Hamirpur. Served as Chief Development Officer at districts like Varanasi and Meerut respectively.

Indian Gov’t Warns Of Reciprocal Measures On Britain’s COVID-19 Vaccine Policy Row

NEW DELHI, Sept 22 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government described Britain’s decision, not to recognise Covishield as a legitimate anti-COVID-19 vaccine, as “discriminatory” and warned of reciprocal measures, if the matter was not resolved.

India’s Foreign Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, during a media briefing that, the country supplied five million Covishield doses to Britain, at the request of the British government, describing the non-recognition of the vaccine as a “discriminating policy.”

India: 7-year-old raped, murdered in Rajasthan's Nagaur

Jaipur, Sep 21 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a neighbour in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, police said on Tuesday.

The accused kidnapped the girl from her residence in a village under Padu Kalan police station limits on Monday and took her to a secluded place, where he raped her.

A case has been registered against the accused, Dinesh Jat (20), for kidnap, rape and murder and he has been detained, Padu Kalan Station House Officer (SHO) Ashok Bishu said.
