India: Updated Fee deposit remains only norm of private schools

Kanpur: What is important for the private schools is not the quality of education but the amount of fee.

If the same does not remain paid up to the months, the students are told of losing the chance for appearing at the examinations.

Before the start of the periodical or regular annual examinations, the school authorities do not hesitate to ask for depositing the fee if dues are persisting.

Those who do not heed are penalised for denying entry into the exams.

India signs contract with Airbus Spain for acquisition of 56 C-295 transport aircraft

NEW DELHI, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- India's defense ministry on Friday signed a deal with Airbus Defense and Space, Spain on the procurement of 56 C-295 medium transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

"The Ministry of defense signed a contract with M/s Airbus Defense and Space, Spain for acquisition of 56 C-295 MW transport aircraft for the IAF, " the ministry said in a statement.

The contract was signed following the approval by the cabinet committee on security earlier this month, officials said.

India: RPF helps Jaipur police in catching culprit at Kanpur

Kanpur: A robber was arrested by Rajasthan police with the help of Railway Police Force here who had robbed more than Rs 1 crore from Jaipur shops and showrooms.

The Jaipur police told that Rajak was arrested from Kolkata bound train in Kanpur. The RPF lent its complete help.

According to the news reports he was trying to escape to Bangladesh on Thursday. He was identified as Mohammad Rajak, 33, a resident of Bihar's Katihar.

India: How was admission scene at city's older college hall?

Kanpur: The hall was big. It gave the impression that it had been an older degree college.The teachers were sitting on seats by their comfort and busy in conversation. The admission for graduate and post-graduate classes was underway. 

The admission seekers were coming ang returning. There was an arrangement for examining the admission form and thereafter the verification process.

The fee was accepted in the form of a demand draft. The instant check of the bank-issued statement was also not evaded. The bank draft must be written in favour of the college concerned.

India: Woman raped, pushed to death from 10th floor in UP's Kanpur

Kanpur, Sep 23 (PTI) A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped and pushed to death from the 10th floor of a building by her employer, police said here on Thursday.

Accused Prateek Vaish (40), a dairy operator, initially tried to mislead police but later confessed to his crime, an official said.

The accused took the victim, who worked as his secretary, to his flat in Kalyanpur on Tuesday on the pretext of some official work.

India: Students face hotchpotch situation during examination

Kanpur: On the second day of the second periodic test on Thursday, the Class VIII students were left in the lurch. They looked disturbed due to a delay in receiving the link needed to attempt the objective questions.

One link remains blank within the allotted time while another link on the google meet application was putting the examinees in utter disarray.

It was much later that the fresh link has been sent by the subject teacher. 

Strangely enough, her voice was not perfectly audible.

Several students messaged the teacher about the problem.

India: 45 BJP MPs belong to political dynasties: Cong MP

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) Congress Rajya Sabha member Ripun Bora on Wednesday claimed 45 BJP MPs belong to political dynasties and that it is the "highest" in any party in the country.

Attacking the BJP that has often accused the Congress of dynastic politics, Bora alleged the saffron party gives the impression that the family-based politics has no place in it while spreading "false propaganda" against its rivals.

Around 45 MPs out of the total 388 BJP MPs of both Houses of Parliament fall in the family-based category, he claimed in a statement.

India: Farmers' protest against 3 agri laws completes 300 days

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) As the ongoing farmers' protest against three contentious agriculture laws of the Centre completed 300 days on Wednesday, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) said the movement is a testimony to the will and determination of lakhs of farmers across the country that would only grow stronger.

"It has been 300 days since lakhs of farmers were forced to stay put at Delhi's borders. The protesting farmers have been peacefully communicating their resistance against a corporate takeover of India's food and farming systems.

India: Haryana gov sets up CoI to probe lathi-charge on farmers

Chandigarh, Sep 22 (PTI) The Haryana government on Wednesday set up a Commission of Inquiry headed by a retired high court judge to probe into the police lathi-charge last month at a group of farmers protesting against the three central farm laws.

The judicial probe panel will be headed by Justice (Retd) Somnath Aggarwal, a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a state government statement said.

India: Jharkhand BJP leader shot dead

Ranchi, Sep 22 (PTI) A BJP leader was shot dead in Jharkhand's Ranchi district on Wednesday, police said.

Jeetram Munda, the party's Scheduled Tribe Morcha president of Ranchi Rural district, was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants while he was coming out of a roadside eatery in Ormanjhi police station area in the evening, an officer said.

The 35-year-old BJP leader was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead, he said, adding that a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused people.
