India: Bulldozer cleans encroachments on Kanpur's Ramadevi crossing

Kanpur: On Thursday afternoon, the joint squad of traffic police and anti-encroachment squad reached the Ramadevi intersection to remove the encroachment.

First of all, the illegal tempo stands operating on the Naubasta route from the intersection were removed.

After this, those who had occupied the pavement were chased away with sticks. It was reported that many shopkeepers had made permanent pucca platforms on the sidewalks.They were smashed with a bulldozer.

India: Kanpur lacks adequate female Toilets despite a woman mayor

The Municipal Corporation may have taken the title of Open Defecation Free, but there is a lack of women facilitation (toilets) in a city with a woman mayor.

In the preparations for the cleanliness campaign and ODF, the Municipal Corporation built toilets in many places but did not pay attention to the problem of women's toilets.

There are toilets in the small streets of the markets but only for men. In the name of the women's facility, their number is only three.

India Reports 3,303 New COVID-19 Cases

NEW DELHI, Apr 28 (NNN-PTI) – India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 43,068,799 today, as 3,303 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the health ministry’s latest data.

This is the first day when the number of new cases breached the 3,000-mark, after lying low for the past several months.

Over 41 percent of the cases were reported from Delhi, with 4,832 active cases, which is the maximum number across the country.

Besides, 39 deaths across the country due to the pandemic since yesterday morning took the total death toll to 523,693.

India: 2 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Pulwama district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Pulwama, 28 April 2022: Two Kashmiris were killed by Indian security forces in Pulwama district of the Indian Administered Kashmir on Thursday, Indian officials said.

Slained Kasmiris were identified as Aijaz Hafiz and Shahid Ayub.

India: BJP leader in UP hangs self over 'dispute' with husband

Banda (UP), Apr 27 (PTI) A 35-year-old BJP leader on Wednesday here allegedly hanged herself due to a dispute with her husband, police said.

Shweta Singh Gaur, who was also a district panchayat member, was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in Indira Nagar locality, Superintendent of Police Abhinandan said.

Prima facie it seems Gaur had a dispute with her husband because of which she killed herself, he said.

Police are probing the matter and a post mortem report of the victim is awaited, he said.

India: RSS is a hidden termite hallowing out society: Dotasra

Jaipur, Apr 27 (PTI) Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra on Wednesday said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is a hidden termite that is hollowing out the society.

"The Sangh is trying to divide the society and pitching brother against brother by spreading false and misleading facts in the society by pretending to be a cultural and social institution," Dotasra said in a statement.

He said, "The RSS is a hidden termite which is hollowing out the society by spreading poison."

India: Three died in head-on collision on Shivrajpur road in Kanpur

Kanpur: Three men, including a father-son duo, were killed after a speeding loader collided head-on with their bike on Shivrajpur road in Kanpur district on Wednesday morning.

The accident took place when the trio, travelling on the same bike, were heading towards Nevada village to take part in a programme.

SP Outer Kanpur Ajit Sinha said the three men travelling on the same bike were heading towards Nevada village to attend a ceremony.

It was when they reached Shivrajpur road that a speeding loader collided ahead with their bike, killing the trio on the spot.

Honk Kong machine to work on underground corridor in Kanpur

Kanpur: Underground Metro Corridor-2 (Chunniganj to Phulbagh/Nayaganj's Bada Chauraha) metro station's launching shaft (from where the tunnel boring machine goes under the ground) has been completed.

From here the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) will go under the ground.

These machines, which came from Hong Kong and Lucknow, after making the track of the Up-Down line up to Phulbagh / Nayaganj, will be retrieved from there and will be relaunched at British India Corporation (BIC), Chunniganj.

It is likely to be launched in early June at Bada Chauraha.

India: UP ministers, IAS officers asked to declare assets

Lucknow, Apr 26 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed his ministers to declare within three months all property owned by them and their families and asked IAS and IPS officials to put similar details online.

He also said that the ministers' family members should not intervene in the government work.
