Kashmir: Shutdown enters 52nd day in Valley

Srinagar, Sep 25 (PTI) Normal life remained affected in the Kashmir Valley for the 52nd consecutive day on Wednesday with public transport off the roads even as few vendors set up stalls here, officials said.

Main markets and other business establishments continued to remain closed, However, few vendors set up stalls on the TRC Chowk-Lal Chowk axis here.

Public transport was largely off the roads, even as few inter-district cabs and auto-rickshaws were seen plying in some areas of the city, the officials said.

India: NRC will be implemented in WB : Kailash Vijayvargiya

Kolkata, Sep 25 (PTI) BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya Wednesday said that NRC will be implemented in West Bengal and not a single Hindu will have to leave the country.

Without naming the TMC, Vijayvargiya, who is BJP's Bengal minder, said certain political parties and politicians are trying to instill fear among the general people over NRC by spreading canards.

India: Owaisi-led AIMIM to contest Jharkhand polls

Ranchi, Sep 25 (PTI) AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has announced that his party will contest the Jharkhand elections, scheduled for later this year.

Addressing his maiden rally here, the Hyderabad MP said the All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) "will unite Muslims, Christians, tribals and other secular-minded people", while also expanding its political base in this part of the country.

He, however, did not mention the number of seats the AIMIM would contest in the upcoming polls.

India: Won't bow down before Delhi "throne": Pawar on ED action

Mumbai, Sep 25 (PTI) NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday said he will visit the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on September 27 in connection with a money laundering case filed against him by the agency.

Addressing media here, Pawar also questioned the timing of the ED move, which comes days before the October 21 Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Pawar said he will visit the ED office at 2 pm on September 27 to submit "whatever information" sought in connection with the Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank scam.

India: Comprehending husband rogue public beat him up

Kanpur: It is an odd case of husband-wife alterçation dragged off on the road. As usual, the police had to intervene and brought them to an amicable understanding.

According to sources, one woman belonging to Bakevar in Fatehpur had married to a young man living in Naubasta area here. Like every couple, they had also developed big acerbic arguments on matters related to each other. 

It was said that the husband was of shaky mind so he started doubting on the wife. This sharpness caused a rift between them which turned into a court case soon.

India: Coal Workers' total strike against government decision to allow 100% FDI in Coal Sector

New Delhi, Sept. 24; GANASHAKTI: The Coal Workers all over the Country struck work from the first shift on 24th September 2019 causing a drop in coal production of 2.13 MT and a loss of Rs. 4000 Crores.

The Coal Workers Federations had earlier urged the Central Government to withdraw their decision to allow 100% FDI in Coal Sector and to allow commercial coal mining.

They are so firm that they even refused to attend a meeting called by the Coal Minister on 19th September 2019. Their point is simple: the demand to scrap 100% FDI in Coal Sector is non-negotiable!

India: Naxal terrorists blow up oil tanker in Chhattisgarh; three killed

Raipur, Sep 24; GANASHAKTI: Three people were killed when Naxals blew up an oil tanker with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh's district on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place around 10 am between Kosronda and Tumapal villages when the diesel-laden tanker was engaged in rail track laying work in Rowghat area, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Vivekanand Sinha told PTI.

The tanker had left from Tumapal camp of the Sashtra Seema Bal (SSB), to provide fuel to the construction vehicles engaged in Dallirajhra-Rowghat railway project work.

India: Two-year-old raped in UP's Banda

Banda, Sep 24 (PTI) A two-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man while she was alone at her home in the district, police said on Tuesday.

The minor, daughter of a labourer, was allegedly raped on Monday by her neighbour Buddhlal (19), SP Ganesh Prasad Saha said.

When the parents reached home, they rushed her to hospital, Saha said.

An FIR has been lodged and the accused arrested, the SP said, adding that the girl was serious and undergoing treatment.

India: BJP govt in UP has no control over crime: Priyanka

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday attacked the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, saying there had been a rise in criminal incidents and the Yogi Adityanath dispensation was unable to rein in crime.

The Congress general secretary also posted a media report on Twitter which claimed that in the last 22 days there have been 12 shooting incidents and four killings in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.

India: SC asks Centre to frame guidelines to deal with social media misuse

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that technology has taken a "dangerous turn" and asked the Centre to apprise it within three weeks about the time-frame needed to come up with guidelines to curb misuse of social media in the country.

A bench of justices Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose expressed serious concern over some social media platforms not being able to trace the originator of a message or an online content and said the government must step in now.
