Delhi gets 100 new mohalla clinics

New Delhi, Oct 19 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday inaugurated 100 newly-constructed mohalla clinics, a primary health service aimed at providing medical facility to people in their neighbourhood.

With this, Delhi now has 302 mohalla clinics.

Speaking at an event in Wazirabad here, the chief minister said that next month, 100 more mohalla clinics will come up and the AAP government plans to set up such health facility on every kilometre in the city.

India: Students made to wear cardboard boxes to stop them cheating in exam

Haveri; 19 Oct 2019; (UMM): A private college in Karnataka made  students wear cardboard boxes during an exam to stop them from cheating. The bizarre incident took place at Bhagat Pre-University College of Haveri district.

The incident came to light when a member of the college management, Sateesh Herur, posted pictures of the students wearing the boxes on his Facebook account.

India: Students walk out of UP school to protest Head Master’s suspension

Pilibhit; 19 Oct 2019; (UMM): Around 30 students, none in uniform, walked out of the school premises protesting their Head Master’s suspension, raising slogans, “Desh ki Raksha kaun karega? Hum karenge (Who will protect the country? We will)”, and “Kaise karenge? Tann se karenge, mann se karenge, dhan se karenge (We will do it with our mind, our and body and our wealth).”

India: Over Rs 13 lakh robbed from bank in UP

Mahrajganj (UP), Oct 17 (PTI) Four masked men allegedly robbed over Rs 13 lakh from HDFC Bank in Anand Nagar area here on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The robbers entered the bank in the morning when six employees and eight customers were present, police said.

They took away over Rs 13 lakh from the cash counter, they said, adding that no security personal was present at the time of the incident.

The robbers, who were having pistols, fled on two bikes, police said quoting a witnesses.

Police are probing the matter. No arrest has been made so far.

India: Six detained with cash worth Rs 2.19 cr

Mumbai, Oct 17 (PTI) Six persons have been detained by a team of police and Election commission officials for allegedly carrying Rs 2.19 crore in cash at Zaveri Bazaar in South Mumbai, the police said on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, additional commissioner of police's special squad and a team from the Election Commission laid a trap near Khaugali at Zaveri Bazaar on Wednesday evening, and nabbed the men, an official said.

On searching them, the police found cash to the tune of Rs 2.19 crore, he added.

India: Detention centre in Bengaluru for foreigners to be operational soon

Bengaluru, Oct 17 (PTI) Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said the detention centre for foreign nationals coming up on the city's outskirts, will be operationalised soon.

The minister also said the Bengaluru-specific anti-terrorist squad (ATS) probably will be operational in November first week.

"There is a detention centre ready near Nelamagala, it needs to operationalised, we have discussed it andthere will be no further delay in operationalising it," Bommai said.

India: girl molested in UP on way home from college

Muzaffarnagar, Oct 18 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly molested by two men when she was on her way home from an intermediate college here, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on Barla-Baseda road on Thursday, they said.

The two men accosted the girl and tried to forcibly take her to nearby sugarcane fields. They fled the spot after she raised an alarm, police said.

The girl's family lodged a police complaint against the accused, they said.
