Union of Muslim scholars forbids normalising relations with Israel

10 Sep 2020; MEMO: The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) on Tuesday issued an unanimous religious ruling (fatwa) forbidding normalising relations with Israel.

In its ruling, the union said the Palestinian cause is not just a political issue but one related to Al-Aqsa Mosque; the third holiest site for Muslims and a representation of their identity.

Israel court evicts Palestinian family from Jerusalem home

09 Sep 2020; MEMO: The Jerusalem District court yesterday ordered the eviction of Nasser Rajabi and his family from their home in the Batan Al-Hawa neighbourhood of Silwan, in occupied East Jerusalem.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Centre, which monitors Israeli human rights violations in Jerusalem, said in a statement that the Al-Rajabi family’s property is a residential building consisting of three apartments housing 30 family members.

Israel's largest lender bank expects UAE bank ties

09 Sep 2020; MEMO: Israel’s largest lender Bank Hapoalim expects to start working with banks in the United Arab Emirates once the two Middle East states sign a normalisation agreement, its chief executive said on Wednesday.

The UAE and Israel are due to sign the agreement, brokered by the United States, on September 15 at a ceremony held by US President Donald Trump.

Amr Ali Abu Khalil had a heart attack and repeatedly called on authorities to allow medicine in or that he be admitted to the prison hospital for treatment.

London law specialist calls on Egypt to cooperate in probe into death of Morsi’s son

07 Sep 2020; MEMO: Co-founder and head of the 37th Guernica Chambers of International Justice in London, Toby Cadman, has called on Egyptian authorities to “fully and unconditionally cooperate in the investigation” into the death of Abdullah Morsi, son of the late President, Mohamed Morsi, and to bring those responsible for his death to justice.
