Hamas slams Arab League failure to condemn UAE- Israel deal

10 Sep 2020; MEMO: Hamas on Wednesday criticised the Arab League’s failure to endorse a Palestinian draft resolution condemning the normalisation agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

The Palestinian faction said in a statement that the league’s failure underlines its abandonment of its role and duty towards Palestine by justifying agreements with the enemy, while the occupation continues with its oppression.

India: Patients can not be turned away from hospitals: Bombay HC

Nagpur, Sep 10 (PTI) Taking suo moto (on its own) notice of problems faced by patients at hospitals in the district amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Thursday said an ailing person can not be turned away from hospitals because of shortage of beds or staff.

A division bench of Justices Ravi Deshpande and Pushpa Ganediwala said the main issue which required the court's attention is making ventilators and beds available to patients so as to reduce the death rate.

Egypt stops issuing licences for Syrian shops

10 Sep 2020; MEMO: Egyptian authorities have demanded that no more licences for shops owned by Syrians be issued following direct orders from General Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reports seeing an internal circular sent to governors and deputies by Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawi, stipulating they must have direct approval from the Interior Ministry to issue commercial licences to Syrians and be provided with a statement listing “the names of the Syrians”.

Thousands of protesters in Germany call on government to accept Moria camp refugees

10 Sep 2020; MEMO: Some 3,000 protesters in Germany are calling on their own government and countries across the EU to accept all refugees from the Moria refugee camp in Greece.

Moria camp on the Greek island of Lesbos has burnt to the ground after fires ravaged the settlement this week. Some 20 firefighters tackled the blaze.
