India: Flight begins with new airport Terminal in Kanpur

Kanpur: The first flight began with as many as 140 passengers from the newly built terminal here.

The airport's new terminal building opened for routine flight operations on Wednesday.

A passenger flight from Bengaluru was the first one to operate from the new terminal building.

The flight was given a ceremonious water salute on its landing at the Kanpur Airport.

The passengers were greeted with Jai Ho slogans on their arrival at the terminal building.

The flight took off reportedly for Bengaluru with approximately 140 people

Truck overturns, crowd gathers to loot beer canes in Kanpur

Kanpur: A truck full of beer overturned on Tuesday here. A crowd gathered to loot the canes of beer. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot after getting the information. Police handled the situation.

It was later learnt that the truck laden with beer canes turned turtle near Chaubeypur highway as the road was dilapidated. When the police arrived on the spot the crowd was dispersed. People gathered to loot the beer canes.

Kanpur gets new divisional commissioner in reshuffle

Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh government in its administrative reshuffle has transferred as many as eight IAS officers, including two divisional commissioners.

Reportedly, Kanpur divisional commissioner has also been transferred. He has been given charge of secretary, agriculture department.

In his place, Saharanpur DC Lokesh M has been sent to take charge here in the same capacity.

India: Kanpur Mayor asks zonal officers to mitigate civic problems

Kanpur: Attentively listening to different complaints from the public in her office, the Mayor directed all the zonal officers to redress all those civic issues earlier.

Municipal Commissioner, Additional Municipal Commissioner and others were present at this important meeting.

The Mayor said in a stern tone that a sum of Rs 2,500 will be charged against any person who throws garbage on the road after the removal of the garbage in the morning hours.

The households should be alert in giving garbage to door-to-door agency workers turning up to collect the garbage.

India: Bride escapes with cash, jewellery among other gifts in Kanpur

Kanpur:  The newly married woman allegedly ran away from her husband's house with cash and jewellery, among other items.

The incident was revealed on Sunday after a complaint was lodged at the Rasoolabad police station of the district.

Ram Karan, a resident of Nirala Nagar, stated in his complaint that a local took Rs 70,000 from him for "fixing his marriage".

"He got my marriage fixed with a girl from Bihar. After taking the money, on May 15, the marriage was solemnised at Dharamgarh Baba temple.

India: Scant Rain causes to water the fields in Kanpur

Kanpur: We will have to water the crop (Palewa) in Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, and Fatehpur as well.

India: Kanpur Zoo defers plan to release crane in open habitat

Kanpur: The Kanpur Zoological Park has reportedly postponed the plan to set free the crane to its natural habitat for the time being.

The stork still searches for human company. The crane habituated to having cooked food was earlier taking noodles, khichadi, rice and daal. But over some time, the stork has begun taking raw food.

India: Rain would only bring relief from intense heat in Kanpur

Kanpur: Intense heat has created a different scene here. The main wide road looks quite vacant as the people avoid moving during the day.

The mercury soars higher making the condition unbearable. On Tuesday the real feel of the temperature remains at 41° C.

While going to a shop on the road not far from his house in the Jajmau area the boy told there were no people on the road at about 2.23 in the day.

When he was asked why did you venture to go out he replied he needed to purchase noodles for lunch.

India: Kanpur weather looks like repetition of year 2020

Kanpur: The weather remains extremely hot here. The maximum temperature was recorded at 45 degrees Celsius at the Meteorological Center of the Air Force and 39.8 degree Celsius at the Meteorological Center of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural University respectively.

According to meteorologists, Kanpur was the fourth hottest city in the state.

India: Uncle throws petrol on nephew over e-rickshaw dispute; wife dies, 3 burnt

Kanpur: In a dispute over an e-rickshaw in Cantonment's Badlipurwa locality here on Tuesday morning, the infuriated uncle poured petrol on his nephew and set him on fire reportedly.

Seeing this scene, two women including his wife got burnt while saving the young man. After the incident, the accused fled from the spot reportedly.

The police on getting the information teacher the spot and admitted all four burnt people to the Burn ward of Ursala Hospital here.

Ramkumar (40), a resident of Badlipurwa in Cantt, lives with his wife Sapna (35).
