Saudi Arabia emerging as largest cinema market in West Asia

Saudi Arabia is emerging as the largest and most profitable cinema market in Western Asia over four years after the Kingdom's ban on cinemas was lifted, with its market volume in revenues projected to amount to $100 million by 2024.

After being awarded this week with the Emerging Market Spotlight award at CinemaCon 2022 in Las Vegas, Saudi Arabia is increasingly being recognised as a major destination for cinema production and box office sales.

Saudi Arabia: OPEC minimum oil production increase during March

RIYADH, April 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) — OPEC oil production increased by just 57,000 barrels per day (bpd) in March from February, as African members’ struggles to pump more crude partially offset increases at the core OPEC members of the Middle East.

All 13 OPEC members—including Libya, Iran, and Venezuela which are exempted from the OPEC+ deal—pumped 28.56 million bpd in March, up by just 57,000 bpd from February, according to OPEC’s Monthly Oil Market Report, (MOMR) published this week.

Saudi Flag Carrier To Open New Route To Greek Island

RIYADH, Apr 16 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabian Airlines SAUDIA, announced yesterday, to start direct flight to the Greek island, Mykonos, on July 1.

The new summer route will be operated on Airbus A320, with three roundtrip flights weekly, scheduled between Riyadh’s King Khaled International Airport and the popular resort’s airport.

Offering 20 business-class seats and 90 seats in economy class, the narrow-body airliner provides full access to SAUDIA’s inflight entertainment system and WiFi connectivity, according to the carrier.

OIC condemns Israel's attack on Al-Aqsa worshippers

16 April 2022; MEMO: Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha on Friday strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces' attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City.

In a statement, the OIC announced: "At least 152 worshippers were injured in the Israeli aggression, and hundreds were arrested."

Saudi, Kuwait call on Iran to join talks on Dorra gas field demarcation

14 April 2022; MEMO: Saudi Arabia and Kuwait yesterday reiterated a call for Iran to join negotiations on defining the eastern boundary of the Dorra gas field.

"Saudi Arabia and … Kuwait affirmed their right to exploit the natural resources in this area and that they will continue working to enforce what was agreed upon on March 21, 2022," the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement reported by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Saudi Arabia to allow 1m Hajj pilgrims as COVID restrictions are eased

10 April 2022; MEMO: Pilgrims arriving from overseas must also submit a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before their departure to the kingdom.

Saudi authorities want to promote pilgrims' safety "while ensuring that the maximum number of Muslims worldwide can perform the Hajj," the ministry's statement added.

At the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, only 1,000 pilgrims were able to take part in the Hajj. This limit was increased to 60,000 last year for fully vaccinated, domestic participants.
