Saudi Arabia announces probe into what Turkey labels as "planned" murder of Khashoggi

RIYADH, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that an investigation has been launched into Turkey's information indicating the murder of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was "planned," Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The announcement was made by the General Attorney in a statement carried by SPA, which said the Turkish information was sent through the Joint Working Team between the two countries.

Saudi crown prince discusses journalist Khashoggi case with Turkish president

RIYADH, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke on Wednesday over the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the telephone conversation, the two discussed the necessary steps to clarify Khashoggi's case with joint efforts.

Khashoggi, a columnist for U.S. newspaper The Washington Post and a critic of the Saudi government, has been missing since his entry into the Saudi consulate in Turkey's Istanbul on Oct. 2.

Saudi Arabia puts world's biggest solar power project on hold

Eritrea, Ethiopia sign peace accord in Saudi's Jeddah

RIYADH, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Eritrea's President Isaias Afwerki and Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali signed on Sunday the Jeddah Peace Accord in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah, Al Arabiya reported.

The deal was sponsored by Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and attended by the United Nation's Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation of the United Arab Emirates.

Leaders of Ethiopia, Eritrea to sign accord in Saudi Arabia

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea were in Saudi Arabia on Sunday ahead of a meeting described as the signing of a peace accord between the two East African nations.

Terms of the agreement to be signed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in the Red Sea port city of Jiddah remain unclear.

Chinese light rail to deliver 2.5 million trips in Mecca for Hajj pilgrims

MECCA, Saudi Arabia, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Around 2.5 million pilgrims from around the globe start travelling for Hajj destinations in Mecca, Saudi Arabia on Monday, taking light rails constructed and operated by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC).

Many of the pilgrims, who travel by the light rail for the first time, gave the thumbs up to the fast and convenient services of the Chinese company, as the rail staff were busy helping passengers board the train.

Saudi expels Canadian envoy, recalls its own over 'interference'

6 Aug 2018; AFP; Saudi Arabia said Monday it was expelling the Canadian ambassador and had recalled its envoy while freezing all new trade, in protest at Ottawa's vigorous calls for the release of jailed activists.

The kingdom gave the Canadian ambassador 24 hours to leave the country, in an abrupt rupture of relations over what it slammed as "interference" in its internal affairs.
