Saudi Arabia provides 50-mln-USD grant to UNRWA

RIYADH, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday to provide 50 million U.S. dollars to the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).

According to Saudi Press Agency, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, supervisor general of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), and Pierre Krahenbuhl, commissioner general of the UNRWA, co-signed in Riyadh a memorandum for the grant.

Saudi royal says crown prince is here to stay

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A prominent Saudi royal said Saturday that whether or not heads of state gathered in Argentina next week for the Group of 20 summit warmly engage with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, he is someone “that they have to deal with.”

Prince Turki al-Faisal told The Associated Press the killing of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi in the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul last month is “an unacceptable incident that tars and mars the long record of Saudi Arabia’s own standing in the world.”

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Wednesday that calls for the crown prince to be held accountable for the grisly killing of Jamal Khashoggi would not be tolerated.

Iraq’s president meets Saudi king after visiting rival Iran

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi Arabia’s King Salman received Iraq’s president in Riyadh on Sunday, a day after the Iraqi official visited the kingdom’s rival, Iran.

Barham Salih’s back-to-back visits to Iran and Saudi Arabia reflect the delicate balance Iraq seeks to maintain in a region where its two powerful neighbors are battling for supremacy.

Saudi prosecutor seeks death penalty in Khashoggi’s killing

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia’s top prosecutor said Thursday he’s seeking the death penalty for five suspects charged with ordering and carrying out the killing of dissident Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi at the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul.

The disclosures by the prosecution appear aimed at distancing the killers and their operation from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose decision-making powers have thrust him into the center of a global outcry over the killing.

Khashoggi killing: sons ask Saudis to return his body

Washington, Nov 5 (AFP) The sons of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi have asked Saudi authorities to return the body of their father so the family can properly grieve, they told CNN in an interview aired Sunday.

Khashoggi was killed inside the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul by a team sent from Riyadh on October 2, a murder Turkey's president said was ordered from "the highest levels" of Saudi Arabia's government.
