Saudi Arabia doubles Q2 Russian fuel oil imports for power generation

15 July 2022; MEMO: Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil exporter, more than doubled the amount of Russian fuel oil it imported in the second quarter to feed power stations to meet summer cooling demand and free up the Kingdom's own crude for export, data showed and traders said, Reuters reports.

Russia has been selling fuel at discounted prices after international sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine left it with fewer buyers. Moscow calls the war in Ukraine a "special military operation".

Saudi Arabia Announced Successful, Safe Hajj Season

RIYADH, Jul 12 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabia announced yesterday, the current Hajj season is successful and safe.

Saudi Prince, Khaled Al-Faisal, also chairman of the Central Hajj Committee, announced the success of the pilgrimage of 2022, at all security, service and health levels.

The prince said, no accidents nor epidemic diseases were reported among pilgrims, thanks to the government’s efforts and projects, as well as, all those involved in serving the pilgrims.

Saudi Arabia: Nearly 1M Muslims complete Hajj pilgrimage

10 July 2022; MEMO: Around 1 million Muslims in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia completed the Hajj and became pilgrims on Saturday, Anadolu reports.

Spending the day in prayers on the plains of Arafah and then arriving at Muzdalifah, Muslims took part in the symbolic "stoning of the devil" at Jamrat al-Aqaba.

Muslims performed Tawaf al-Ziyarah – the ritual of walking back and forth seven times between the two small hills of Safa and Marwa.

RIYADH, July 7 (Reuters) - The United States and Israel are seeking to lay the groundwork for a security alliance with Arab states that would connect air defence systems to combat Iranian drone and missile attacks in the Middle East, four sources familiar with the plan said.

The idea, which would use Israeli technology, could gain momentum during President Joe Biden’s stops in Israel, the Palestinian territories and Saudi Arabia on a July 13-16 trip, said two of the sources who were briefed on the plans.
