Ksenia Sobchak returns to Russia through Latvian border Sunday — source

ST. PETERSBURG, November 7. /TASS/: Russian TV host and reporter Ksenia Sobchak returned to Russia on November 6 through the Latvian border. According to a source in the Northwestern Federal District, Sobchak crossed the border in the Pskov Region.

TASS currently has no official confirmation of this information. Earlier on Monday, sources close to Sobchak’s family told TASS that she returned to Russia last week.

Russia: ‘Putin’s chef’ admits to interfering in U.S. elections

(AP) --- Yevgeny Prigozhin, an entrepreneur known as “Putin’s chef” because of his catering contracts with the Kremlin, on Monday admitted he had interfered in U.S. elections and said he would continue to do so — for the first time confirming the accusations he has been rejecting for years.

“We have interfered, are interfering and will continue to interfere. Carefully, precisely, surgically and in our own way,” Prigozhin said in remarks posted by his spokespeople on social media.

Russia’s Investigation Committee opens negligence case after Kostroma nightclub fire

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/: The investigators have initiated a case of negligence following a fire in the Polygon nightclub in Russia’s Kostroma that killed 13 people, the press service of the Investigation Committee said in a statement on Sunday.

"Based on the results of a procedural inspection on the fact of negligence that caused the death of two and more people out of negligence, a criminal case has been initiated on the signs of a crime under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the statement reads.

Less than 5,000 coronavirus cases registered in Russia in one day first since July 19

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 4,566 in the past 24 hours compared with 5,617 on the previous day, the federal anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.

Less than 5,000 cases have been registered in the country in one day for the first time since July 19. The total number of cases in Russia since the pandemic started has reached 21,463,850.

Russia: Car traffic on Crimean Bridge to be suspended temporarily on November 8, says ministry

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/: Car traffic on the Crimean Bridge will be suspended temporarily on November 8 due to repair and recovery activities, the press service of the Russian Transport Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

"On November 8, from 4 am to 4 pm (Moscow time) car traffic on the Crimean Bridge will be suspended due to repair and recovery activities," the statement reads.

Russia records another 5,617 coronavirus cases, 67 deaths

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/: Russia recorded 5,617 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Saturday. The total number of cases has reached 21,459,284.

As many as 582 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, down from 1,235 the day before. Hospitalizations declined in 70 regions of the country and rose in six regions.

Moscow’s COVID-19 cases surged by 623 to 3,234,541 in the past day and St. Petersburg’s cases increased by 388 to 1,787,934.

Russian forces thwart Ukrainian attacks near Krasny Liman - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/: Russian forces thwarted Ukrainian attacks towards Krasny Liman, killing over 60 troops, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday.

"In the Krasny Liman direction, the attacks of three Ukrainian company tactical teams towards Stelmakhovka, Ploshchanka and Kremennaya in the Lugansk People’s Republic were thwarted," he noted.

According to Konashenkov, over 60 Ukrainian troops were killed, while a tank, two combat armored vehicles, three pickup trucks and a motor vehicle were destroyed.

Russia cafe blaze north of Moscow kills 13, injures 5

MOSCOW (AP) — A fire in a large cafe in the Russian city of Kostroma killed 13 people and injured five others on Saturday, local authorities said.

The governor of the Kostroma region, Sergei Sitnikov, said 13 people died in the fire and five more were slightly injured. Kostroma, a riverside city of 270,000, is 340 kilometers (210 miles) north of Moscow.
