India: 2 booked for raping minor in Sikar

Sikar (R'than), Jun 19 (PTI) Two men have been booked for allegedly raping a minor girl in Rajasthan's Sikar district nearly three months back, police said on Wednesday.

The incident came to light when the girl complained of stomach ache and she was taken to a doctor, who told the family that she was pregnant, local police station incharge Ramkishan Yadav said.

India: Unemployed graduates to get up to Rs 3,500 in R'sthan

Jaipur, Jun 18 (PTI) Unemployed youth having graduation or equivalent degree will be given unemployment allowance up to Rs 3,500 by the Rajasthan government, an official statement said.

They will get the benefit of the Chief Minister Yuva Sambal Yojana from February this year, the statement read.

The state government has implemented the scheme from February this year after rechristening the earlier Akshat Yojana.

India: R'stahn local bodies bypoll: Cong bags 8 seats, BJP five

Jaipur, Jun 12 (PTI) The Congress bagged eight seats while the BJP emerged victorious on five in the Rajasthan local bodies bypoll, results of which were declared Wednesday.

Three wards were won by independent candidates.

Polling to 16 wards of Alwar, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Churu, Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Karauli and Srigangnagar was held on June 10.

The Congress won in Khairthal, Behror, Jahajpur, Indergarh, Sujangarh, Nohar, Shahpura and bagged one of the seats in Hindaun.

India: Tribal woman from Rajasthan raped in MP, dies

Kota (Rajasthan), Jun 9 (PTI) A 20-year-old tribal woman, who was allegedly raped and administered a poisonous substance by a youth in Madjya Pradesh, died at a hospital in Rajasthan's Baran district, police said Sunday.

Four women from the Rajasthan's Kanjar tribe had gone to Madhya Pradesh's Guna town to perform at a private programme on Friday, they said.

Two of them were taken by two youths to a forested area from the bus stand. One of the women was raped, police said.

Minor abducted, raped in Rajasthan's Bikaner

Jaipur, Jun 7 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two youths in Rajasthan's Bikaner district, police said Friday.

Family members of the girl have lodged a complaint against Pannaram Meghwal (21) and Manglaram Meghwal (20), both residents of Nagaur district, in this regard.

Nokha DSP Mehmood Khan said the incident allegedly took place on June 5, when the bike-borne youths forcibly took the girl to a secluded place.

India: 45% rise in number of TB cases in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jun 3 (PTI) Rajasthan has seen a 45 per cent increase in the number of tuberculosis (TB) cases in the last one year after the Centre made it a notifiable disease, according to government data.

A total of 1,59,762 cases were notified last year as compared to 1,10,044 in 2017, as per the government's official portal monitoring the disease.

Medical experts said the marked rise in number of TB cases does not mean the actual figures have changed as many cases went unreported earlier.

India: Woman raped in Pali district, four accused arrested

Jaipur, Jun 3 (PTI) A 30-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by five men in Rajasthan's Pali district and the video of the crime uploaded on social media, police said Monday.

Four of the five accused were arrested on Monday, a day after the woman lodged a complaint alleging that the five had raped her on May 26 when she was on way to a temple with a friend. The accused also made a video of the crime.

India: Man arrested for killing mother, raping daughter

Jajpur (Odisha), Jun 3 (PTI) The Odisha Police has arrested a man who fled from the state after raping a minor girl and killing her mother in Jajpur district last month, police said Monday.

The accused, identified as Bijaya Behera (22), a resident of local Kumari village under the jurisdiction of Dharmasala police station area in Jajpur district, was nabbed by police team in Kerala on Sunday night, said Saroj Kumar Sahoo, inspector-in-charge of Dharmasala police station.

India: Make students aware of Indian Constitution: Gehlot

Jaipur, Jun 1 (PTI) Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday laid emphasis on making students aware of the Constitution of India from school days.

He said the preamble of the Constitution should be printed at the beginning of school textbooks so that the feeling of responsibility towards the Constitution could be developed in students.

Sharing his views at a 'yuva chintan shivir', organised by the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS) in Bhilwara, Gehlot said every section of society had the freedom of expression.
