Palestinians scramble to flee south in Gaza as Israel urges a mass evacuation and conducts raids

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinians scrambled to flee northern Gaza on Saturday after the Israeli military ordered nearly half the population to evacuate south and carried out limited ground forays ahead of an expected land offensive a week after Hamas’ bloody, wide-ranging attack into Israel.

Israel threatens to bomb Hospital in Gaza

14 October 2023; MEMO: The Israeli occupation army on Friday night warned that Al-Awdeh Hospital located in Jabaliya will be bombed, sending a warning notice for it to be evacuated.

According to the Palestine News and Information Agency (Wafa) correspondents in Gaza, the evacuation process is underway for patients and medical staff, and all patients will be transferred to the Indonesia Hospital.

1,354 Palestinians killed by Israeli airstrikes on Gaza: health ministry

GAZA, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least 1,354 Palestinians were killed, and 6,049 others wounded by the ongoing Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to the Gaza-based health ministry.

In a press statement sent to Xinhua, the ministry said that "44 Palestinians were killed on Thursday as Israel intensified its air attacks on various areas of the Gaza Strip."

According to the sources, Israel's attacks also targeted residential neighborhoods and multi-story buildings in the Gaza Strip.

Significant part of Palestinian population in Gaza being 'wiped off': UN official

12 October 2023; MEMO: A significant part of Gaza’s population is being “wiped off,” the UN Rapporteur for Palestinian Territories said Thursday, as the blockaded city continues to face intense Israeli strikes and shelling, Anadolu Agency reports.

"What’s happening is that a significant part of the Palestinian population in Gaza is being wiped off. Not differently from what has happened before in … but with increased ferocity"

In a statement issued today, Hamas condemned “promoting the Israeli occupation’s propaganda, which is full of lies and fabrications, as an attempt to cover up the crimes and massacres committed by the Israeli occupation around the clock, most of which amount to war crimes and genocide.”

60% of Gaza injuries afflict women, children: Health official

11 October 2023; AA: Women and children in Gaza are suffering approximately 60% of the injuries resulting from ongoing Israeli bombardment of the region, said the Palestinian Health Ministry in the embattled enclave on Wednesday.

Yusuf Abu al-Reesh, deputy health minister in Gaza, told Anadolu: "60% of the injuries caused by Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have impacted women and children."

Israel airstrikes have destroyed seven Gaza mosques since Saturday

9 October 2023; MEMO: Israeli attacks have destroyed seven mosques in the Gaza Strip since Saturday, Anadolu Agency reports.

Israeli warplanes attacked the Al Abbas Mosque in central Gaza with many rockets.

The attacks have now led to the destruction of seven mosques, with the most recent being the Al-Abbas Mosque.

Israel had previously hit the Al-Susi, Al-Yarmouk, Al-Amin Muhammad, Ahmed Yassin, Al-Habib Mohammad, and Al-Garbi mosques in Gaza.
