At least 40 injured in clashes between Palestinians, Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza

GAZA, July 5 (Xinhua) -- At least 40 Palestinians were injured on Friday afternoon during clashes between hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, told reporters that 40 Palestinians were injured, including 22 who were shot and wounded by the gunfire of Israeli soldiers, who are stationed on the border with eastern Gaza Strip.

Israel releases Palestinian Jerusalem minister after hours of arrest

RAMALLAH, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian Authority on Sunday confirmed that the Israeli authorities had released Palestinian Minister for Jerusalem Affairs Fadi al-Hadmi hours after he was detained from his home in East Jerusalem.

According to al-Hadmi's lawyer Muhannad Jabara, the arrest was a result of pressures from the Israeli right wing on the government after al-Hadmi accompanied Chilean President Sebastian Pinera and his visiting delegation on a tour in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the city.

Mass protests in Gaza reject U.S.-sponsored Bahrain economic workshop

GAZA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of Gazans protested on Wednesday against the economic workshop organized by the United States in Bahrain for the second day in a row under the title of "Peace for Prosperity."

The demonstration, which was called for by the High Commission of the Great March of Return, included all Palestinian factions.

The protests took place in front of the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in central Gaza city, and went toward the United Nations headquarter in the west of Gaza.

81 Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza Strip: medics

GAZA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- At least 81 Palestinians were injured on Friday afternoon during clashes between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Gaza Health Ministry, told reporters that 79 people as well as two paramedics had various injuries in the clashes with the Israeli soldiers in eastern Gaza Strip.

UN to continue services for Palestinian refugees despite challenges: official

GAZA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Comissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Pierre Krahenbuhl said on Thursday that the agency will continue to provide services to Palestinian refugees despite financial difficulties.

"UNRWA will not end its role and stop its services," Krahenbuhl said during a press conference at the headquarters of UNRWA in the Gaza Strip.

2 Palestinians, Israeli man killed in overnight Israel-Gaza conflicts

GAZA/JERUSALEM, May 5 (Xinhua): Two Palestinians were killed in Israeli overnight attacks in the conflicts between Israel and the Palestinian military factions for the third day in a row, medic sources said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza Health Ministry, said in a press statement that Mahmoud Issa, 29, and Fawzi Bawadi, 24, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 10.

4 Pelestinians killed, dozens injured by Israeli soldiers

GAZA, May 3 (Xinhua): Four Palestinians were killed and 51 injured during clashes on Friday with the Israeli army forces in eastern Gaza Strip close to the border with Israel, medics and security sources said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman, told reporters that two demonstrators were shot dead and 51 injured by Israeli soldiers' gunfire during the weekly anti-Israel protests in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel.

Hezbollah leader says cabinet formation ongoing, obstacles remain

BEIRUT, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Friday that a progress regarding the cabinet formation in Lebanon is ongoing but a few obstacles still remain, local TV Channel Al Jadeed reported.

"There are still some problems related to the distribution of cabinet shares," said Nasrallah in a televised speech.

He denied allegations by some media outlets about Iran and Syria preventing government formation in Lebanon.
