Palestinian girl, 10, becomes 48th victim of the three-day Israel assault on Gaza

11 August 2022; MEMO: A ten-year-old Palestinian girl died today after sustaining head injuries during Israel's three-day assault on Gaza.

Layan Al-Shaer from Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, was transferred to Al-Makassed Hospital in Palestine's occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday as her medical condition deteriorated.

Israel: Russia-Iran space project may reduce our ability to spy

11 August 2022; MEMO: Iran's latest space cooperation project with Russia could give Tehran the capacity to launch intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads in the future, Israeli officials fear.

According to the Jerusalem Post, officials believe the partnership could also help Iran monitor targets throughout the region and reduce Israeli spies' ability to penetrate the Islamic Republic's border with operations which hold back its nuclear progress.

Iraqi Shiite Cleric Urged Judiciary To Dissolve Parliament

BAGHDAD, Aug 11 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi powerful Shiite cleric, Moqtada al-Sadr, yesterday, called on the country’s judiciary, to dissolve parliament by the end of next week, due to the expiry of the constitutional deadlines for the formation of a new government.

Parliament does not need to convene to dissolve itself, because some parliamentary blocs adhere to the quota system, continue to engage in corruption, and refuse to bow to the people’s demand to dissolve parliament, Al-Sadr tweeted.

Daesh Commander Killed In Security Operation In Southern Syria

DAMASCUS, Aug 11 (NNN-SANA) – Abu Salem al-Iraqi, a senior Daesh leader in southern Syria, blew himself up, during a Syrian security operation in the southern province of Daraa, on Tuesday, it was reported yesterday.

A security source said, the Syrian security forces carried out a security operation, which led to al-Iraqi detonating his explosive belt, after being encircled by the Syrian forces, inside a house in the town of Adwan, in the western countryside of Daraa.

Al-Iraqi received several gunshots before detonating his explosive belt, said the report.

Saudi Investment Fund Subsidiary Invests 1.3 Billion USD In Egyptian Firms

CAIRO, Aug 11 (NNN-SPA) – A subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), acquired minority stakes in four Egyptian companies for 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, said yesterday.

This comes as Egypt ramps up its effort to entice foreign investors, the ministry said, in a statement.

Iranian Navy Rescued Ship Under Attack From “Unidentified” Boats In Red Sea

TEHRAN, Aug 11 (NNN-IRNA) – The Iranian Navy rescued an Iranian ship, from “unidentified” invading boats, after armed clashes in the Red Sea the night before, the state-run IRIB TV reported yesterday.

Speaking in a televised interview, Rear Admiral Mostafa Tajoddini, deputy commander of the Iranian Navy’s strategic operations, said that, the naval forces immediately rushed to the scene upon receiving a rescue call from the Iranian ship under attack by unidentified boats.

Officials: Floods in Yemen kill at least 38 people in 2 days

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Torrential rains across southwestern Yemen and the country’s capital of Sanaa have triggered flashfloods and collapsed homes, killing at least 38 people over the past two days, officials said Thursday.

Scores of homes in Sanaa and the provinces of Dhamar and Ibb have completely collapsed or have been significantly damaged, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

Abbas advisor says normalisation should come after resolving Palestinian issue

10 August 2022; MEMO: An advisor to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said that Arab states should abide by the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative and refuse to normalise relations with Israel until the Palestinian issue has been resolved. Mahmoud Al-Habbash, who advises Abbas on religious and Islamic affairs, made his comments to Russia's Sputnik news agency.
