India: BJP dividing people like British rulers: Baghel

Pune, Nov 28 (PTI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday accused the BJP of dividing the people of the country on religious lines like the British rulers.

He also slammed the BJP-led central government for "ignoring" Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's warnings on the coronavirus pandemic and said that had it acted on his suggestions, the lives of many people could have been saved.

India: Investors' wealth tumble over Rs 4.48 trillion (lakh cr) as markets plummet

New Delhi, Nov 26 (PTI) Investors' wealth tumbled Rs 4.48 lakh crore during day trade on Friday with the BSE benchmark plummeting 1,488 points tracking weak global trends.

The 30-share benchmark index tumbled 1,488.01 points during the day to 57,307.08.

The market capitalization of BSE-listed tanked Rs 4,48,223.31 crore to Rs 2,61,18,730.57 crore during the day.

India: Reserve Bank imposes Rs 1 cr penalty on State Bank of India

Mumbai, Nov 26 (PTI) Reserve Bank on Friday said it has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore on State Bank of India (SBI) for deficiencies in regulatory compliance.

The penalty has been imposed by an order dated November 16, 2021, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a statement.

According to the central bank, Statutory Inspections for Supervisory Evaluation (ISE) of SBI was conducted with reference to its financial positions as on March 31, 2018 and March 31, 2019.

India: ED attaches asset of Shiv Sena MP Gawali's aide

New Delhi, Nov 25 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday said it has attached an office building worth Rs 3.75 crore of Saeed Khan, an arrested aide of Shiv Sena MP Bhavana Gawali, in connection with a money laundering investigation.

It said an office premise in Mumbai's Nariman Point area has been attached as part of a provisional order issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Indian share market in bear grip: Sensex nosedives 1,170 pts; RIL tumbles over 4%

Mumbai, Nov 22 (PTI) Market benchmark Sensex crashed over 1,170 points to log its worst single-day drop in over seven months on Monday amid concerns over government's reform measures after farm laws repeal announcement and weak listing of country's largest fintech firm Paytm.

Extending its losses for the fourth straight session, the BSE gauge plunged 1,170.12 points or 1.96 per cent to settle the day at 58,465.89 its lowest closing level in over two months. In terms of absolute single-session drop, this was the biggest fall since April 12 this year.

India: Teltumbde among 26 Naxal terrorists killed in Maha: police

Mumbai, Nov 14 (PTI) Top Maoist leader Milind Teltumbde was among the 26 Naxals killed in an encounter with police in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, a senior police official said on Sunday.

The gun-battle took place on Saturday at Korchi in Mardintola forest area of the district, located over 900 km from Mumbai, when a C-60 police commando team was conducting a search operation, police earlier said.

Mumbai, Nov 12 (PTI) Blasting Kangana Ranaut for her comment that the Independence India won in 1947 was "bheek", Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi on Friday described the actor as an agent of hate.

Padmashri Kangana Ranaut is an agent of hate, intolerance and rabidity. It is not surprising that she feels that India got its freedom in 2014. Hate, Intolerance, Sham Patriotism, intolerance and oppression were liberated in India in 2014, he tweeted.

India: Unable to find job, man hangs self

Nagpur, Nov 10 (PTI) A 23-year-old jobless man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house in Kalamna area here in Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the deceased, Bhushan Gawande, was depressed as he couldn't get a job in Chandrapur where he had stayed for three days.

On Tuesday evening, he hanged himself from a ceiling fan with a scarf in his house, police said.

India: RBI lifts restrictions on Diners Club International

Mumbai, Nov 9 (PTI) The Reserve Bank on Tuesday lifted restrictions on Diners Club International and allowed it to onboard new domestic customers.

The restrictions have been lifted with immediate effect, the central bank said in a statement.

The RBI had on April 23, 2021, imposed restrictions on Diners Club International Ltd from onboarding new domestic customers onto its card network from May 1, 2021, for non-compliance with the norms on Storage of Payment System Data.
