India: Two minor girls gangraped in Jharkhand

Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Sep 25 (PTI) Two minor girls, both sisters, were allegedly raped by four men at Kenduadih, about 15 km from here, police said on Wednesday.

The main accused, a friend of the elder sister, had called her to meet him on Tuesday evening, the Superintendent of Police of Dhanbad (Rural) district, Aman Kumar, said.

India: Owaisi-led AIMIM to contest Jharkhand polls

Ranchi, Sep 25 (PTI) AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has announced that his party will contest the Jharkhand elections, scheduled for later this year.

Addressing his maiden rally here, the Hyderabad MP said the All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) "will unite Muslims, Christians, tribals and other secular-minded people", while also expanding its political base in this part of the country.

He, however, did not mention the number of seats the AIMIM would contest in the upcoming polls.

India: Man lynched, two injured over cow slaughter suspicion

Khunti, Sep 23 (PTI) A differently-abled man was killed and two others were seriously injured when a mob allegedly thrashed them on suspicion of slaughtering a cow, in Jharkhand's Khunti district, police said on Monday.

The incident happened after local residents allegedly saw Kalantus Barla, Fagu Kacchap and Phillip Horo with the carcass of a cow near a river at Jaltanga village on Sunday and beat them up, a police officer said.

India: Tabrez lynching case: Murder charge back on all accused

Ranchi, Sep 18 (PTI) Eight days after the Jharkhand police dropped the murder charge against 11 accused in the mob lynching case of young Muslim man Tabrez Ansari, they brought back the same charge on the accused on Wednesday after obtaining a fresh medical report, an official said here.

Ansari was seen on national television being beaten up with rods while tied to a pole and forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' over alleged theft in June.

India: Two men get 25 years jail term for raping woman in Jharkhand

Simdega (Jharkhand), Sep 8 (PTI) A Jharkhand court has sentenced two men to 25 years in prison for raping a 20-year-old woman in Simdega town in 2017.

Additional district judge (I), Neeraj Kumar Srivastav, has found Vijay Kumar and Ajay Mishra guilty of the crime under sections of the Indian Penal Code and pronounced the quantum of the sentence against them on Saturday.

India: 17-year-old boy arrested for raping teenage girl

Ramgarh, Sep 4 (PTI) A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district for allegedly raping a teenage girl and making her pregnant, police said on Wednesday.

The officer-in-charge of women police station in Ramgarh, Menjari Birua said, the mother of the teenage girl lodged complaint with the police, alleging that the boy maintained physical relationship with her daughter for six months and later she became pregnant.

The boy was arrested on Tuesday and sent to a probation home in the neighbouring Hazaibag district, the OC said.

India: Naxal terrorist killed in Jharkhand

Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Aug 9 (PTI) A naxal was killed in an encounter with security forces in West Singhbhum district on Friday, a police officer said.

The encounter took place in Thalkobeda forest bordering Khunti district when a team of CRPF and district police launched a joint operation in the area, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Inderjeet Mahatha said.

The security forces had received a tip off about movement of naxals in the area.

India: Man sentenced to life for raping minor girl in J'khand

Simdega (J'khand), Aug 1 (PTI) A court here has sentenced a 27-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl last year.

Additional District Judge Niraj Kumar Srivastav convicted Nirdosh Topno on Wednesday under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rape, and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Topno.

India: Juvenile gets 20 yrs in jail for gang-rape of minor girl

Simdega (Jharkhand), Aug 2 (PTI) A local court has sentenced a juvenile to 20 years in prison in connection with gang-rape of a minor girl in Simdega district last year.

Additional District Judge, Niraj Kumar Srivastav on Thursday also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the 16-year-old boy, additional public prosecutor (APP) Subhas Prasad said here.

"Cases of heinous crime can be shifted to the district courts," Prasad said, adding that the boy will not be lodged in a prison as he is a minor but will be kept in a probation home till he attains the age 21.
