India: Deaf, mute woman raped in Ramban

Banihal/Jammu, Apr 7 (PTI) A 23-year-old deaf and mute woman was allegedly raped and impregnated by an elderly man in a remote village in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, following which he was arrested, police said on Tuesday.

According to a police official, the case came to light when the woman's father lodged a complaint accusing the elderly man of raping his daughter.

Medical examination of the girl was conducted and she was found four-month pregnant, the official said, adding the accused has been arrested and further probe was on.

India: FIR against 150 Tablighi event attendees for negligence

Mumbai, Apr 7 (PTI) Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against 150 people who attended the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin in New Delhi last month for alleged negligent act during the coronavirus outbreak, an official said on Tuesday.

The offence was registered on a complaint lodged by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at the Azad Maidan Police Station, he said.

Aligarh (UP), Apr 6 (PTI) A 20-year-old man has been arrested here for a communally sensitive social media post related to the coronavirus pandemic, police said on Monday.

Mursim Ali was arrested on Sunday from Atrauli, about 35 km from here, for his post that went viral and had the potential to breach the communal peace, Atrauli Station House Officer Dharmenra Singh Panwar said.
