US Unrest: Protesters return to St Louis area where couple drew guns

St Louis (US), Jul 4 (AP/PTI) Several hundred protesters made a peaceful return trip Friday to the St Louis mansion owned by a white couple whose armed defense of their home during an earlier demonstration earned them both scorn and support.

Protesters marched along the busy public boulevard called Kingshighway, which intersects with Portland Place, a private street that is the site of the Renaissance palazzo-style home of Mark McCloskey, 61, and his 63-year-old wife, Patricia.

India: Father-son death case: Absconding cop held

Tuticorin, Jul 3 (PTI) A police constable wanted in connection with the sensational case of custodial torture and murder of a father-son duo at Sathankulam here, was arrested on Friday, police said.

The constable, Muthuraj, who had managed to evade arrest for a couple of days was "secured" near Vilathikulam, about 60 km from here,and he was brought to Tuticorin and handed over to CB-CID authorities, a police official said here.

"We secured him at Poosanur off Vilathikulam.

We zeroed in on him on the basis of some inputs," he toldPTI.

Canadian arrested in Egypt early in 2019 returns home after release, needs medical treatment

03 July 2020; MEMO: Yasser Albaz, a Canadian engineer who was arrested at Cairo airport at the end of a business trip in February 2019, has been released and is back in Canada but needs medical treatment, his family said on Thursday, Reuters reports.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in February he had raised the case of Albaz during a meeting in Addis Ababa with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

India: Israel, Palestine should work on two-state solution

03 July 2020; MEMO: India on Thursday reiterated that the final status issues should be resolved through direct negotiations between Israel and Palestine, Anadolu reports.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said: “Our position on this is very clear and I would like to reiterate that the final status issues should be resolved through direct negotiations between the two parties.”

India: Minor girl sexually assaulted, killed in TN

Pudukottai (TN), Jul 2 (PTI) A missing seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and killed allegedly by a man in a village near here, following which he has been arrested, police said here on Thursday.

The crime coming close on the heels of a killing of a 13 -year old girl in this district, has led to an outrage and Chief Minister K Palaniswami assured stern legal action against the accused involved in the ghastly crime.

Condoling her death, the CM said he was grieved to learn that she was sexually assaulted and killed.
