Israel committed 414 violations against Palestinian journalists in 2020

29 Nov 2020; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces committed 414 violations against Palestinian journalists since start of the year, Quds Press reported yesterday.

The Journalists' Support Committee said in a statement that Israeli occupation forces "intentionally attack journalists" in an attempt to "suppress the truth about their violations".

India: Farmers' protest enters fifth day, traffic disrupted in city

New Delhi, Nov 30 (PTI) The ongoing protests by thousands of farmers against the Centre's new farm laws entered the fifth day on Monday, with the protestors threatening to block all five entry points to the national capital.

Rejecting the Centre's offer to hold talks once they move to the Burari ground, the farmers said they will not accept any conditional dialogue and have called a meeting to discuss their next course of action later in the day.

Farmers, who had reached Nirankarai Samagam Ground in Burari on Saturday, continued their protest there.

Iran FM Zarif urges EU to condemn scientist Fakhrizadeh assassination

Tehran, Nov 29, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a Twitter message in German language urged the international community particularly the European Union to stop double standards and condemn assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

Terrorists murdered an excellent Iranian scientist. This cowardice, in which there are serious references to Israel's role, is an expression of the desperate warmongering of the perpetrators, Zarif wrote in his Twitter account on Sunday.

'Insulting beliefs far from freedom': Turkey's president

28 Nov 2020; MEMO: Decrying rising Islamophobia in Western countries, the Turkish president said Saturday that insulting people's beliefs has nothing to do with freedom, reports Anadolu Agency. 

"You have been closely following the meanness in France towards the Prophet [Muhammad] under the label of 'freedom of thought'," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a video message to the 23rd annual convention of the Muslim American Society.

Turkey condemns killing of Iranian nuclear scientist

28 Nov 2020; MEMO: Turkey on Saturday condemned the killing of Iran's top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We regret that the Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh lost his life as a result of an armed attack in Tehran. We condemn this heinous murder and extend our condolences to the government of Iran and the family of the deceased," said the nation's Foreign Ministry.

Israel blockade results in $16.5bn loss to Gaza economy: UN

28 Nov 2020; MEMO: A new United Nations (UN) report found that the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip has resulted in $16.5 billion losses to its crippling economy and pushed more than half of the enclave's residents below the poverty line.

The report, which was issued on Wednesday by the UN's Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to the General Assembly, covered the years between 2007 and 2018.

Israel: Hundreds protest outside Netanyahu's Jerusalem home

Jerusalem, Nov 29 (AP-PTI) About 1,000 protesters gathered outside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official residence in Jerusalem on Saturday night, pressing ahead with their months-long campaign demanding his resignation.

A mix of grassroots groups have held the weekly protests, saying Netanyahu should step down while he is on trial for corruption and because of his handling of the coronavirus in Israel.

India: Protest over girl's 'abduction' in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Nov 28 (PTI) There were protests in a town in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district over the alleged abduction of a girl by a youth, police said on Saturday.

The student, who was allegedly abducted when she was on her way to tuition in Khatauli, was found at a railway station, an officer said.

Family members and locals had protested on Friday alleging abduction and demanding arrest of the suspect, according to the officer.

India: Farmers protest against Agri laws at Ghaziabad's UP Gate

Ghaziabad, Nov 28 (PTI) A large number of farmers staged a protest against the Centre's farm laws at the Ghaziabad's UP Gate on Saturday.

Led by Bharatiya Kisan Union's national president Rakesh Tikait, farmers said they will continue their stir till the Centre does not give a written assurance about the continuation of the minimum support price (MSP) system.

Tikait said farmers associated with the body will not go the Delhi's Burari ground, a place earmarked for protests by police.
